Creep compliance response of a cohesive soil

Journal of the Franklin Institute, 1965
Abstract The creep response of a cohesive soil tested in uniaxial compression is presented in terms of a creep compliance function. The variables considered include strain, time, stress level, and moisture content. The soil response is definitely nonlinear, but the stress dependence of the creep compliance is written in explicit form.

Creep compliance rheology with a probe-like cylindrical geometry

Biorheology, 2017
Background: Rheology experiments have been performed on the vitreous humor, a soft gel that rests inside of the eye, to study its viscoelastic behavior and underlying macromolecular structure. A significant challenge for experimentalists is preserving the macromolecular structure when removing vitreous from in vivo conditions.

Creep compliance mapping by atomic force microscopy

Polymer, 2014
Abstract We present a method for mapping the spatial distribution of viscoelastic properties of heterogeneous samples using the atomic force microscope (AFM). By applying a force step load protocol to induce time dependent sample indentations we measured the local creep compliance of the sample.

Creep compliance behaviour of direct compression excipients

Powder Technology, 1989
Abstract Creep compliance was studied during tablet compaction by treating powder deformation or flow as analogous to the rheological behaviour of semi-solids. The creep curves could be differentiated into three distinct regions, corresponding to different types of rheological behaviour: elastic, visco-elastic and plastic deformation.

Nano-scale Creep Compliance of Hybrid Aerogels

MRS Proceedings, 2011
ABSTRACTThe copolymerization between TEOS (tetraethoxysilane) and silane derivatives was promoted by the application of high power ultrasound to the precursor liquid mixtures in the same way as in the classical sol-gel method. The specific organic precursor was selected from the silanol-terminated polymer family with different molecular functionality ...

Dilational creep compliance in Langmuir polymer films

Soft Matter, 2011
Creep compliance is a simple rheological tool to study flow properties in soft matter. As a proof of concept we have studied the dilational flow of Langmuir films made of poly(vinylacetate), a model flexible polymer. The creep response has been probed at different stresses, pointing out the existence of compliance features.

Analytical Compliance model for Flexure Hinge Considering Creep

2020 5th International Conference on Mechanical, Control and Computer Engineering (ICMCCE), 2020
This paper deals with a study to determine a compliance model of flexure hinge considering creep subjected to pure applied moment. The work can be considered an extension of previous investigations on typical notched flexure hinge. Analytical equations are derived using Castigliano's second theorem and creep power-law that the creep constitutive ...
