Thermodynamic Restrictions in Linear Viscoelasticity. [PDF]
The thermodynamic consistency of linear viscoelastic models is investigated. First, the classical Boltzmann law of stress–strain is considered. The kernel (Boltzmann function) is shown to be consistent only if the half-range sine transform is negative definite. The existence of free-energy functionals is shown to place further restrictions.

Effect of filler type on non-linear viscoelastic characteristics of asphalt mastic [PDF]
This article discusses the rheological tests and analyses based on the Schapery non-linear viscoelasticity model that were performed to study asphalt mastic behaviour under high shear stresses.

Dynamic displacement tracking in viscoelastic solids by actuation stresses: a one-dimensional analytic example involving shock waves [PDF]
A one-dimensional (1D) analytic example for dynamic displacement tracking in linear viscoelastic solids is presented. Displacement tracking is achieved by actuation stresses that are produced by eigenstrains. Our 1D example deals with a viscoelastic half-

Some remarks on materials with memory: heat conduction and viscoelasticity [PDF]
Materials with memory are here considered. The introduction of the dependence on time not only via the present, but also, via the past time represents a way, alternative to the introduction of possible non linearities, when the physical problem under ...

Mapping linear viscoelasticity for design and tactile intuition
We propose and study methods to improve tactile intuition for linear viscoelastic fluids. This includes (i) Pipkin mapping with amplitude based on stress rather than strain or strain-rate to map perception to rheological test conditions; and (ii) data ...
