Creep Behavior of Saturated Clay in Triaxial Test and a Hyperbolic Model

open access: yesGeofluids, 2021
As one of the basic mechanical properties of soil, the creep property of a given type soil is related to stress path, and stress level. In this paper, triaxial shear creep tests under different deviatoric stress levels were performed on both intact ...

Off equilibrium properties of vortex creep in superconductors

open access: yes, 2001
We study a model for the dynamics of vortices in type II superconductors. In particular, we discuss glassy ``off equilibrium'' properties and ``aging'' in magnetic creep.

Remnant creep based visco-elastic model for concrete creep analysis [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the Institution of Civil Engineers - Structures and Buildings, 2015
Creep of concrete could cause adverse stress redistributions and excessive deformations. Its structural effects can be assessed by conducting time-step analysis using finite-element methods with time-integration formulation, in which the creep strain at any time is determined as the cumulative creep responses to stress increments in previous time ...

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Anisotropic creep model for soft soils [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
In this paper a new anisotropic model for time-dependent behaviour of soft soils is presented. The formulation is based on a previously developed isotropic creep model, assuming rotated Modified Cam Clay ellipses as contours of volumetric creep strain ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Irreversible thermodynamics of creep in crystalline solids

open access: yes, 2013
We develop an irreversible thermodynamics framework for the description of creep deformation in crystalline solids by mechanisms that involve vacancy diffusion and lattice site generation and annihilation. The material undergoing the creep deformation is

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Creep motion of a domain wall in the two-dimensional random-field Ising model with a driving field

open access: yes, 2012
With Monte Carlo simulations, we study the creep motion of a domain wall in the two-dimensional random-field Ising model with a driving field. We observe the nonlinear fieldvelocity relation, and determine the creep exponent {\mu}. To further investigate
