Electrochemical Behavior of Flame‐Sprayed Sc‐Doped AlCoCrFeMo High‐Entropy Alloy Coatings in 3.5% Sodium Chloride Solution

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Scandium (Sc)‐doped AlCoCrFeMo HEA coatings are fabricated via flame spraying with 0.1, 0.3, and 0.5 wt% Sc additions. Among these, the HEA‐Sc0.3 coating exhibits the highest corrosion resistance, indicated by a more positive corrosion potential and lower current density.

Crevice Corrosion Behavior of Nickel-Based Alloy 718 in both Aerated and De-Aerated Chloride Environment

open access: yesCovenant Journal of Engineering Technology, 2017
In this study, anodic potentiodynamic polarization techniques were used to study the crevice corrosion behaviour of Nickel alloy 718 (with and without a crevice former) in both aerated and de-aerated solution of 3.5wt% sodium chloride solution.

Mechanism of Crevice Corrosion

open access: yesCorrosion, 1964
Failure of structures and of many types of automatic equipment is often due to crevice corrosion. Differential aeration was advanced some time ago as a major cause of such attack. The present investigation was made to demonstrate other factors in the mechanism of crevice corrosion.

Corrosion fatigue of a superduplex stainless steel weldment [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Superduplex stainless steels have superior mechanical and corrosion properties compared to austenitic stainless steels such as the grade 300 series. This is a result of a microstructure consisting of roughly equal percentages of austenite (y) and ferrite

Modeling the Effects of Crevice Former, Particulates , and the Evolving Surface Profile in Crevice Corrosion [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Crevice corrosion may initiate in confined regions due to transport limitations, followed by an accumulation of a highly corrosive chemistry, capable of dissolving the metal.

Influence of Si Content and Milling Duration on the Microstructure and Mechanical–Tribological Properties of AlCoCrFeNiSi High‐Entropy Alloys

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Si‐doped AlCoCrFeNi high‐entropy alloys are synthesized by mechanical alloying to reveal the effect of Si content and milling time on phase evolution, microstructural refinement, and tribological behavior. A transition from FCC to BCC structure, significant grain refinement, and enhanced hardness and wear resistance are achieved, with the 4 at% Si ...

Corrosion Mechanism for Copper Sulfide Formation Induced by Dibenzyl Disulfide in Oil-Immersed Insulation

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
This paper investigated the influence of paper-wrapped on the deposition of sulfur corrosion on the insulation winding (paper-wrapped copper conductor) in oil-immersed insulation containing dibenzyl disulfide (DBDS).

Microstructure, Thermal Transport, and Dry‐Sliding Tribology of Powder‐Metallurgy Al7075 Composites Reinforced With Sol–Gel‐Derived ZnO–rGO Hybrid Nanoparticles

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Sol–gel‐derived ZnO–rGO hybrid nanoparticles enable Al7075 powder‐metallurgy composites to achieve concurrent gains in hardness and thermal conductivity while markedly lowering friction and wear. The hybrid architecture couples ZnO‐based load support with rGO‐assisted lamellar sliding and heat spreading, revealing a promising route toward lightweight ...
