Critical current density of GdBa2Cu3O7-x ceramics.

open access: yesJournal of the Japan Society of Powder and Powder Metallurgy, 1988
The influences of the sintering temperatures in fabricating GdBa2Cu3O7-x ceramics on the critical current densities were investigated. The critical current density measured by the resistive method (Jc, res.) showed a maximum value for the sample sintered at 930°C, while that estimated from the magnetization loop (Jc, mag.) increased monotonically with ...

PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

Maximum supercurrent in Josephson junctions with alternating critical current density

open access: yes, 2007
We consider theoretically and numerically magnetic field dependencies of the maximum supercurrent across Josephson tunnel junctions with spatially alternating critical current density.

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

Dynamical phase transition for current statistics in a simple driven diffusive system

open access: yes, 2012
We consider fluctuations of the time-averaged current in the one-dimensional weakly-asymmetric exclusion process on a ring. The optimal density profile which sustains a given fluctuation exhibits an instability for low enough currents, where it becomes ...

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Porous Lithium‐Doped ZnO Nanosheets with Abundant Oxygen Vacancies for Accelerating Li+ Transport in Solid‐State Composite Electrolyte

open access: yesSmall Structures
The flexible Li‐ion conducting solid polymer electrolyte (SPE) endows a stable long‐term cycling to Li‐metal anode to significantly improve the energy density of solid‐state lithium batteries; however, the practical application of the SPE is limited by ...

Inductive measurements of third-harmonic voltage and critical current density in bulk superconductors

open access: yes, 2003
We propose an inductive method to measure critical current density $J_c$ in bulk superconductors. In this method, an ac magnetic field is generated by a drive current $I_0$ flowing in a small coil mounted just above the flat surface of superconductors ...

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Large critical current density improvement in Bi-2212 wires through groove-rolling process

open access: yes, 2013
Recently the interest about Bi-2212 round wire superconductor for high magnetic field use has been enhancing despite the fact that an increase of the critical current is still needed to boost its successful use in such applications.
