Influence of spin injection on the critical current density in La0.7Sr0.3MnO3/La1.85Sr0.15CuO4 heterostructure

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2014
The anisotropic polarized spin injection effect on the critical current density Jc of La0.7Sr0.3MnO3/La1.85Sr0.15CuO4 heterostructure is systematically investigated.

Deviations from the critical state model observed in niobium [PDF]

open access: yes, 1980
The values of the critical current density of niobium slabs, measured with the help of trapezoidal ac magnetic fields are not in agreement with the critical state model.

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Influence of eutectic microstructure on the critical current density of V1−xZrx superconductors

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2020
We present here the studies on the effect of annealing on the structural and magnetic properties of V1−xZrx (x = 0.33 and 0.40) superconducting alloys. We show that the γ-ZrV2 phase grows at the expense of (α-Zr)-(γ-ZrV2) eutectic microstructure when V1 ...

Low-temperature synthesis of SmFeAsO0.7F0.3 wires with high transport critical current density

open access: yes, 2010
Ag-sheathed SmFeAsO0.7F0.3 (Sm-1111) superconducting wires were prepared by a one-step solid state reaction at temperatures as low as 850~900C, instead of commonly used temperatures of 1150~1250C.

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Josephson junctions with centered step and local variation of critical current density

open access: yes, 2009
Superconductor-insulator-ferromagnet-superconductor (SIFS) Josephson tunnel junctions based on Nb\Al2O3\Ni\Cu\Nb stacks with a thickness step in the metallic NiCu interlayer were fabricated.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.
