Exploring the extent of critical gap acceptance caused by rainfall in Malaysia

open access: yes, 2012
At a priority intersection, critical gap is the threshold by which drivers judge whether to accept a gap or retain holding position. It is usually taken as a fixed value or considered to follow a certain distribution.

Preoperative circulating tumor cells integrated with imaging analysis for prognostic evaluation in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Detecting circulating tumor cells (CTCs) in blood before surgery may help predict outcomes in patients with head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC). Here, we show when combined with tumor size and lymph node involvement from routine imaging, CTC status identifies high‐risk patients with poorer survival—offering a simple, minimally invasive tool ...

An Approach for the Estimation of Error Rates in Observing Critical Situations

open access: yes, 2017
In this paper the observation quality of critical situations in road traffic is analyzed. Determining the frequency of critical situations is a well-established approach in road traffic safety studies.

Effect of Large Vehicles on Left Turn Gap Acceptance at Signalized Intersections

open access: yes
Critical and follow-up headways are the foundation for estimating the saturation flow of permissive left turns at signalized intersections. Current critical and follow-up headways recommended in the 2016 Highway Capacity Manual (HCM) are based on limited

A light‐triggered Time‐Resolved X‐ray Solution Scattering (TR‐XSS) workflow with application to protein conformational dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...

Establishing an assay to evaluate d‐amino acid oxidase enzyme kinetics and inhibition using WST‐8 redox dye

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study investigated a novel WST‐8‐based assay for evaluating d‐Amino acid oxidase (DAO) inhibitors. We confirmed its effectiveness using known inhibitors and found that uremic toxins possess relatively weak inhibitory activity compared to existing drugs.

Effects of forward collision warning, initial time headway and repeated scenario exposure on driver response in emergency lead vehicle braking scenarios

open access: yes, 2011
To address the research questions, acritical lead vehicle braking scenario and anFCW system was developed and pilot tested in Saab’s fixed based driving simulator in Trollhättan.
