The Norm Game on a Model Network: A Critical Line

open access: yes, 2009
The norm game (NG) introduced by Robert Axelrod is a convenient frame to disccuss the time evolution of the level of preserving norms in social systems. Recently NG was formulated in terms of a social contagion on a model social network with two stable states: defectors or punishers. Here we calculate the critical line between these states on the plane

α‐Synuclein aggregation landscape from phase separation to neurotoxic intermediates

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Alpha‐synuclein aggregation in Parkinson's disease involves a complex landscape of transient intermediates, including oligomers, fibrils and liquid–liquid phase separation (LLPS). A view is emerging in which LLPS maturation into solid‐like condensates may contribute to the formation of neurotoxic species.

DOTS-LCCI - Dependable Off-The-Shelf based middleware systems for Large-scale Complex Critical Infrastructures [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Large scale Complex Critical Infrastructures (LCCIs), such as water and power supply plants, and transport infrastructures (e.g., airports and seaports), play a key role into several fundamental human activities.

Investigations of the Nature of Critical Line Very Close to a Double Critical Point [PDF]

open access: yes, 1991
The curvature of the line of critical points in a reentrant ternary mixture is determined by approaching the double critical point (DCP) extremely closely. The results establish the continuous and quadratic nature of this line.

Three phosphatase families form a community: The phosphohydrolases that act upon inositol pyrophosphates

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol pyrophosphates are energy‐rich signaling molecules that perform critical functions in cells. Three different families of phosphatases hydrolyze the β phosphate of the inositol pyrophosphate molecules: two have narrow specificities and one is promiscuous.

Assessing the effect of implementing a central line care bundle on central line-associated bloodstream infections in a tertiary hospital in Saudi Arabia

open access: yesItalian Journal of Medicine
Central line-associated bloodstream infections (CLABSIs) are severe bloodstream infections caused by catheter use and are often associated with a longer hospital stay, increased healthcare costs, and a higher mortality rate.

Description of critical state for sands considering particle crushing

open access: yesYantu gongcheng xuebao, 2017
In recent years, granular soil is widely used in more and more earth-rockfill dams and high-filled projects being built. However, particle crushing of granular soil can not be ignored as the particle crushing of granular soil under high stress is very ...

Modelling stem cell differentiation related processes—A practical overview for biologists

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Stem cell differentiation is complex and difficult to control experimentally. This review introduces suitable computational modelling approaches that can support stem cell research, from mechanistic ODE and abstract models to multiscale and deep learning methods.

Modeling in the Adjustment of Fertilization Recommendation through Leaf Analysis in Fertigated ‘Prata’ Banana

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Ciência do Solo, 2018
: In banana cultivation, fertilization recommendations are almost exclusively based on soil chemical analysis, without considering leaf analysis and expected yield, which can help in the adjustment of fertilization programs.

Critical analysis of line loadability constraints

open access: yesInternational Transactions on Electrical Energy Systems, 2018
This paper develops a critical analysis of the constraints that influence the loadability curves of overhead transmission lines (OHLs). The constraints considered are: conductor thermal limit, allowed voltage drop (or voltage quality limit), steady-state (or angle) stability margin, voltage stability margin and Joule losses limit.
