Ontology-Based Critical Infrastructure Modeling and Simulation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
This paper describes a knowledge-based system (KBS) designed to support a federated environment for simulating critical infrastructure models. A federation of simulators is essentially a “system of systems,” where each simulator represents an entity that operates independently with its own behavior and purpose.

The eXtensible ontology development (XOD) principles and tool implementation to support ontology interoperability

open access: yesJournal of Biomedical Semantics, 2018
Ontologies are critical to data/metadata and knowledge standardization, sharing, and analysis. With hundreds of biological and biomedical ontologies developed, it has become critical to ensure ontology interoperability and the usage of interoperable ...

An Ontology-Based Approach to Aid STPA Analysis

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2023
The safety-critical systems we are building today employ software, use physical and cybernetic components, and have more interactions (including hierarchical controllers). Systems-Theoretic Process Analysis (STPA) is a hazard analysis method that is used

TERMINOLOGICAL PROBLEMS OF A POSSIBLE UKRAINIAN TRANSLATION OF N. HARTMANN’S ZUR GRUNDLEGUNG DER ONTOLOGIE: AN ANALYSIS OF K. PETERSON’S ENGLISH TRANSLATION

open access: yesВісник Харківського національного університету імені В.Н. Каразіна. Серія Філософія, філософські перипетії
The article examines the terminological challenges that any future translation project of the works of the semi-forgotten German philosopher N. Hartmann, specifically Zur Grundlegung der Ontologie, into Ukrainian may encounter.

REFLECTIONS ON FOUCAULT’S CONCEPT OF CRITICAL ONTOLOGY

open access: yesBogazici Journal, 2006

An epithelial GPR35 isoform supports tumor‐associated transcriptional and metabolic phenotypes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
GPR35 generates two functionally distinct isoforms with previously unresolved roles. GPR35‐short mediates immune‐cell chemotaxis, while GPR35‐long is enriched in colorectal cancer epithelium, where it supports increased metabolism, proliferation, and tumor‐associated transcriptional programs.

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

Developmental programmes drive cellular plasticity, disease progression and therapy resistance in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that lung adenocarcinomas exploit developmental branching morphogenesis to acquire a therapy resistant basal‐like tumour cell state. This process was found to be regulated by combined TP53 loss‐of‐function and type‐I interferon signalling, identifying a novel axis for biomarker and therapeutic target discovery.

Finding novel vulnerabilities of hypomorphic BRCA1 alleles

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Synthetic lethality screens performed to identify novel vulnerabilities often model complete gene loss, thereby overlooking patient‐derived hypomorphic mutations. In this study, we have performed genome‐wide CRISPR screens on BRCA1 hypomorphic mutations, showing BRCA1I26A behaves like wild‐type, while BRCA1R1699Q mimics deficiency. Furthermore, we have
