Accuracy of digitally designed endodontic posts: a micro-computed tomography analysis of intraoral scanner and extraoral scanning techniques

open access: yesBMC Oral Health
Background The digital scanning step represents a critical stage in ensuring an accurate treatment protocol. Due to the challenges associated with intracanal scanning, such as limited direct visualization of the working field and restricted access, the ...

CUSTOM 3D-PRINTED INTRAMEDULLARY NAILS: A NOVEL PRECLINICAL MODEL FOR ADDRESSING CRITICAL-SIZED BONE DEFECTS

open access: yesOrthopaedic Proceedings
Critical-sized bone defects (CSBDs) represent a major challenge in orthopaedic and trauma surgery. Translational research requires preclinical models that reliably replicate human conditions. This study aimed to develop and evaluate a custom-made 3D-printed titanium intramedullary nail (IMN) specifically designed for CSBDs in minipigs.

Chameleon sequences reveal structural effects in proteins representing micelle‐like distribution of hydrophobicity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Amino acids sequence of two different proteins with the same sequence (chameleon sequence—black boxes) represent in 3D structure of the proteins different secondary structures: HHHH—helical and BBB—Beta‐structural. The chains folded in water environment adopt different III‐order structures in which the chameleon fragments appear to adopt similar status

YlmG1 is localized exclusively to the chloroplast envelope membrane and is involved in preprotein translocation in Arabidopsis thaliana

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Cytosolically synthesized chloroplast preproteins are translocated across the outer and inner envelope membranes through translocons called TOC and TIC, respectively. In green algae and plants, the TIC core is composed of essential membrane proteins, Tic12, Tic20, and Tic214.

Strength improvement of critical-sized three dimensional printing parts by infiltration of solvent-free visible light-cured resin

open access: yesJournal of Materials Science: Materials in Medicine, 2006
The use of light-cured acrylate resin as an infiltrant can enhance flexural modulus and flexural strength of natural polymers based three dimensional printing (3DP) parts to be closed to general use of polymethyl methacrylate resin. It was observed that flexural properties of infiltrated specimens were influenced by infiltration conditions.

Combined 5‐aminolevulinic acid and ferric ammonium citrate treatment promotes hair follicle growth by activating dermal papilla cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
5‐Aminolevulinic acid combined with ferric ammonium citrate (5‐ALA/FAC) stimulates dermal papilla cell activity and promotes hair follicle growth. The treatment enhances ERK and AKT signaling, increases hair‐inductive gene expression, and restores dermal papilla function suppressed by dihydrotestosterone and oxidative stress, resulting in enhanced hair

Systemic dysregulation of apolipoproteins in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis serum

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a fatal disease that damages motor neurons. This study found that people with ALS show significant changes in blood fats and the proteins that carry them. Several apolipoproteins were higher, lipid balances were altered, and normal protein–lipid relationships were disrupted.
