High stiffness seals for rotor critical speed control [PDF]

open access: yes
An annular seal is analyzed in which the inlet clearance is larger than the outlet clearance; the flow path may be either stepped or tapered. This design produces radial stiffness 1.7 to 14 times that of a constant clearance seal having the same minimum ...

Linking neurogenesis, oligodendrogenesis, and myelination defects to neurodevelopmental disruption in primary mitochondrial disorders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mitochondrial remodeling shapes neural and glial lineage progression by matching metabolic supply with demand. Elevated OXPHOS supports differentiation and myelin formation, while myelin compaction lowers mitochondrial dependence, revealing mitochondria as key drivers of developmental energy adaptation.

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.

Physiological Correspondence Between Different Indexes of High-Intensity Endurance Exercise in Young Male Runners

open access: yesSports
Critical speed (CS), the respiratory compensation point (RCP), and the midpoint between gas exchange threshold and maxial oxygen uptake (VO2max) (i.e., 50%Δ) have been considered indexes able to demarcate the boundary between the heavy and severe ...

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

The Influence of Axial-Bearing Position of Active Magnetic Suspension Flywheel Energy Storage System on Vibration Characteristics of Flywheel Rotor

open access: yesActuators
This study introduces a flywheel rotor support structure for an active magnetic suspension flywheel energy storage system. In this structure, there is an axial offset between the axial-bearing position and the mass-center of the flywheel rotor, which ...

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Highway Speed vs. Sideslip (Critical Speed in a Curve)

open access: yesJournal of the National Academy of Forensic Engineers, 1984
Is there a simple way to calculate vehicle speed based upon curved yaw marks on a road surface? J. Standard Baker, in his book Traffic Accident Investigation Manual, published by the Traffic Institute, Northwestern University, presents such a method.
