Critical current versus strain research at the University of Twente [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
At the University of Twente a U-shaped spring has been used to investigate the mechanical properties of a large variety of superconducting tapes and wires.

ZW4864‐mediated inhibition of the β‐catenin/BCL9/BCL9L complex reveals therapeutic potential in bladder cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
BCL9 and BCL9L drive bladder cancer progression by enhancing β‐catenin signaling, promoting proliferation, migration, invasion, and organoid growth. Genetic depletion of BCL9(L) suppresses malignant phenotypes, while pharmacological disruption of the β‐catenin/BCL9(L) complex with ZW4864 inhibits canonical Wnt signaling and tumor‐associated cellular ...

Intermediate strain rate testing methodologies and full-field optical strain measurement techniques for composite materials characterisation

open access: yes, 2014
Two optical full-field strain measurement techniques, Digital Image Correlation and the Grid Method, are applied to characterise the strain-rate dependent constitutive behaviour of composite materials.

Tunable Q-factor silicon microring resonators for ultra-low power parametric processes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
A compact silicon ring resonator is demonstrated that allows simple electrical tuning of the ring coupling coefficient and Q-factor and therefore the resonant enhancement of on-chip nonlinear optical processes.

Theoretical analysis of mechanical coupling between soil and fiber optic strain sensing cable for distributed monitoring of ground settlement

open access: yesYantu gongcheng xuebao, 2019
The mechanical coupling between soil and fiber optic cable is vital to the validity of ground settlement data monitored using distributed fiber optic sensing (DFOS).

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

Prediction of variation in critical current with applied tensile/bending strain of Bi2223 composite tape from tensile stress-strain curve [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
An approach to predict the variation in critical current with applied tensile/bending strain of Bi2223/Ag/Ag alloy composite tapes from the tensile stress-strain curves was presented.

Theoretical investigations of the interfacial sliding and buckling of graphene on a flexible substrate

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2016
Two interfacial failure modes, shear sliding and buckling, of graphene on a flexible substrate subjected to uniaxial compression are investigated. The shear sliding starts at the edge region, and buckling starts at the middle region of graphene.

Critical Strain for Dynamic Recrystallization in Variable Strain Rate Hot Deformation

open access: yesISIJ International, 2003
In rolling, the strain rate in a rolling pass is not constant but depends on pass reduction r p , decreasing or increasing along the arc of contact. In the present work, high temperature compression tests were performed with the rate varying according to strain rate profiles pertaining to various flat rolling pass reductions.

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.
