Antibody-mediated cross-linking of gut bacteria hinders the spread of antibiotic resistance [PDF]
The body is home to a diverse microbiota, mainly in the gut. Resistant bacteria are selected for by antibiotic treatments, and once resistance becomes widespread in a population of hosts, antibiotics become useless. Here, we develop a multiscale model of

Therapeutic strategies for MMAE‐resistant bladder cancer through DPP4 inhibition
We established monomethyl auristatin E (MMAE)‐resistant bladder cancer (BC) cell lines by exposure to progressively increasing concentrations of MMAE in vitro. RNA sequencing showed DPP4 expression was increased in MMAE‐resistant BC cells. Both si‐DPP4 and the DPP4 inhibitor sitagliptin suppressed the viability of MMAE‐resistant BC cells.

Cross-linking reconsidered: binding and cross-linking fields and the cellular response
We analyze a model for the reversible cross-linking of cell surface receptors by a collection of bivalent ligands with different affinities for the receptor as would be found in a polyclonal anti-receptor serum. We assume that the amount of cross-linking determines, via a monotonic function, the rate at which cells become activated and divide.

Glassy states and microphase separation in cross-linked homopolymer blends
The physical properties of blends of distinct homopolymers, cross-linked beyond the gelation point, are addressed via a Landau approach involving a pair of coupled order-parameter fields: one describing vulcanisation, the other describing local phase ...

Viscoelastic behaviour of polymethyl methacrylate networks with different crosslinking degrees [PDF]
The influence of the cross-linking degree on the dynamics of the segmental motions close to the glass transition of poly(methyl methacrylate), PMMA, networks was investigated by three different mechanical spectroscopy techniques: thermally stimulated ...

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

Standard versus transepithelial collagen cross-linking in the management of keratoconus
Objective The aim of this study was to compare corneal collagen cross-linking (CXL) using either standard or transepithelial CXL. Patients and methods The study included 30 eyes of 18 patients with a mean age of 27.08 years.

This study shows that copy number variations (CNVs) can be reliably detected in formalin‐fixed paraffin‐embedded (FFPE) solid cancer samples using ultra‐low‐pass whole‐genome sequencing, provided that key (pre)‐analytical parameters are optimized.
