Advanced glycation end products promote the release of endothelial cell‐derived mitocytosis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Under diabetic conditions, AGEs induce mitochondrial damage in HUVECs, activating migrasome‐mediated mitocytosis. Migrasomes encapsulate damaged mitochondria and are released into the extracellular space, facilitating intercellular mitochondrial transfer.

Development and evaluation of polyvinyl-alcohol blend polymer films as battery separators [PDF]

open access: yes
Several dialdehydes and epoxies were evaluated for their suitability as cross-linkers. Optium concentrations of several cross-linking reagents were determined.

Modulation of the slow/common gating of CLC channels by intracellular cadmium. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Members of the CLC family of Cl(-) channels and transporters are homodimeric integral membrane proteins. Two gating mechanisms control the opening and closing of Cl(-) channels in this family: fast gating, which regulates opening and closing of the ...

Aqueous scavenging of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons using epichlorohydrin, 1,6-hexamethylene diisocyanate and 4,4-methylene diphenyl diisocyanate modified starch: Pollution remediation approach

open access: yesArabian Journal of Chemistry, 2019
Cross linking of starch molecules with suitable reagents provides opportunity for incorporation of relevant functional groups, thereby tuning the adsorption properties of the starch polymer adsorbent towards target pollutants, as a function of the nature

Digital Biosensing By Foundry-Fabricated Graphene Sensors [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
Biomedical and environmental testing currently require access to highly specialized facilities or extensive training. Current biochemical tests require complex reagents to achieve a simple human readable result such as a color change. This results in low-information tests, with high reagent costs.

Development of 4T1 breast cancer mouse model system for preclinical carbonic anhydrase IX studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Carbonic anhydrase IX (CAIX) is a well‐recognised therapeutic target and prognostic biomarker in cancer. We developed and characterised a robust murine breast cancer model system that is suitable for CAIX studies in vitro and in vivo—it comprises both CAIX‐positive and CAIX‐negative controls and provides a solid platform for the comprehensive ...

Glycosylation Gene Signatures as Prognostic Biomarkers in Glioblastoma

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Glioblastoma (GBM) is an aggressive brain tumor characterized by significant heterogeneity. This study investigates the role of glycosylation‐related genes in GBM subtyping, prognosis, and response to therapy. Methods We analyzed mRNA expression data and clinical information from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) and Gene Expression ...

4,4'-Difluoro-3,3'-dinitrophenylsulfone as a Cross-Linking Reagent for Lysozyme

open access: yesExperimental Biology and Medicine, 1969
SummaryActive cross-linked derivatives of egg-white lysozyme have been prepared by reaction with 4,4′-difluoro-3,3′-dinitrophenyl-sulfone and isolated from excess reagents and salts by gel chromatography. Lytic activity of the enzyme at pH 9.21 is almost abolished in one cross-linked derivative which still retains 20% of its lytic activity at pH 6.24 ...
