Heterogeneous Crowd Simulation
2019 Spring Simulation Conference (SpringSim), 2019Dense crowd simulations are being increasingly used for predicting congestion, planning protests and rallies, and threat assessment. It has been observed that human behavior is uncontrollable and often unpredictable; however, human motion is quite flexible over obstacles in their path and turn as per the need.

A crowd is not only a group of many individuals: crowd modeling involves problems arising only when we focus on crowds. For instance, collision avoidance among a large number of individuals in the same area requires different resolving strategies in comparison with the methods used to avoid collisions between just two individuals. Also, motion planning

ACM SIGGRAPH ASIA 2009 Sketches, 2009
One of the major technical challenges in the animated film Astroboy was the creation of believable crowds of town citizens in the battle arena scene. In order to speed up the performance of converting citizen behavior into RIB format, the pre-baked RIB method proposed in Tutorial on Procedural Primitives [Hery and Sutton 2001] was applied.

Behavior authoring for crowd simulations
Symposium on Interactive 3D Graphics and Games, 2011There has been growing academic and industry interest in the behavioral animation of autonomous actors in virtual worlds. However, it remains a considerable challenge to automatically generate complicated interactions between multiple actors in a customizable way with minimal user specification.

A unified structure for crowd simulation
Computer Animation and Virtual Worlds, 2012ABSTRACTRealistic simulation of crowds is an important issue for the production of virtual worlds for games, entertainment or architectural and urban planning. Difficult issues need to be addressed such as collision avoidance and the handling of dynamic environments.

Protein assembly and crowding simulations
Current Opinion in Structural Biology, 2022Proteins encounter frequent molecular interactions in biological environments. Computer simulations have become an increasingly important tool in providing mechanistic insights into how such interactions in vivo relate to their biological function. The review here focuses on simulations describing protein assembly and molecular crowding effects as two ...

Crowd simulation is a continuous challenge in computer animation. In this paper, we present an intelligent crowd simulation technique based on multiple autonomous agents. Each animated character (AC) is modeled as an autonomous agent, consisting of the perception, behavior planning and motion generation system. AC perceives the environment information,

Simulating crowds with balance dynamics
ACM SIGGRAPH 2005 Posters on - SIGGRAPH '05, 2005The dynamics of walking dramatically influences the behaviors of pedestrians, yet few details of human biomechanics and walking control are addressed in crowd animations developed for virtual environments and scientific applications. People cannot stop or start instantaneously and their movements reflect an attention to balance as well as other ...

Crowd Simulation with Augmented Reality
2013 XV Symposium on Virtual and Augmented Reality, 2013In situations where crowds are expected, such as big sport events, musical events, among others, the unpredictability of incidents is always present. In order to prevent accidents and tragedies, understanding how crowds behave is crucial. This research project has developed an augmented reality system with agents to simulate crowds in real locations ...
