A digital shadow of CAR T cell expansion in a perfusion bioreactor: Informing optimal harvest times for autologous cell therapy

open access: yesBiotechnology Progress, EarlyView.
Using online metabolite data from the first few days of a bioreactor run, the digital shadow can forecast the cell concentration in real‐time with an accuracy of 13% (standard deviation ≈ 6%). These predictions can guide the optimal harvest time of CAR T cells for subsequent re‐infusion into the patient.

New Approaches to Cryopreservation of Cells, Tissues, and Organs

open access: yesTransfusion Medicine and Hemotherapy, 2019
In this concept article, we outline a variety of new approaches that have been conceived to address some of the remaining challenges for developing improved methods of biopreservation. This recognizes a true renaissance and variety of complimentary, high-

Cryopreservation of Parathyroid Glands [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Endocrinology, 2010
The risk of permanent hypoparathyroidism following thyroid and parathyroid surgery is around 1% in the hands of experienced endocrine surgeons. Although this complication is rare, rendering a patient permanently aparathyroid has significant consequences on the health and quality of life of the patient.

Endoplasmic Reticulum Stress Amplifies Cytokine Responses in Astrocytes via a PERK/eIF2α/JAK1 Signaling Axis

open access: yesGlia, EarlyView.
ER stress amplifies TNF‐α, OSM, and IL‐1β responses in astrocytes. PERK and JAK1 signaling are required for the synergistic interaction between ER stress and inflammatory cytokines. Translational suppression attenuates the synthesis of the negative feedback regulators IκBα and SOCS3.

Human Sperm Motility, Viability, and Morphology Decreased after Cryopreservation

open access: yesFolia Medica Indonesiana, 2019
The aim of this study was to analyze human sperm motility, viability, and morphology before and after cryopreservation. This true laboratory experimental study had pre and post randomized one group design.

Induced encystment improves resistance to preservation and storage of Acanthamoeba castellanii [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Several conditions that allow the preservation, storage and rapid, efficient recovery of viable Acanthamoeba castellanii organisms were investigated. The viability of trophozoites (as determined by time to confluence) significantly declined over a period

Somatic cell reprogramming for Parkinson's disease treatment

open access: yesIbrain, Volume 11, Issue 1, Page 59-73, Spring 2025.
The fundamental purpose of cell reprogramming to treat Parkinson's disease is to generate dopaminergic neurons (DAN) and do transplantation. There are two ways to accomplish this. One method is to induce cells into induced DA neurons (iDAN) directly or to induce cells into induced pluripotent stem cells and ultimately into iDAN in vitro. Another option
