Cryopreservation of Parathyroid Glands [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Endocrinology, 2010
The risk of permanent hypoparathyroidism following thyroid and parathyroid surgery is around 1% in the hands of experienced endocrine surgeons. Although this complication is rare, rendering a patient permanently aparathyroid has significant consequences on the health and quality of life of the patient.

Optimizing biophysical properties of cellular niches to enhance stem cell‐derived extracellular vesicle function in musculoskeletal regeneration

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
Extracellular vesicles (EVs) derived from stem cells show promise for applications in regenerative medicine, but their scalability and yield remain challenges. This review explores the approaches for biophysical modulations within cell niches on EV properties, discusses the current clinical application of EVs, and provides an outlook on the existing ...

A digital shadow of CAR T cell expansion in a perfusion bioreactor: Informing optimal harvest times for autologous cell therapy

open access: yesBiotechnology Progress, EarlyView.
Using online metabolite data from the first few days of a bioreactor run, the digital shadow can forecast the cell concentration in real‐time with an accuracy of 13% (standard deviation ≈ 6%). These predictions can guide the optimal harvest time of CAR T cells for subsequent re‐infusion into the patient.

Development of Islet Cryopreservation for Type 1 Diabetes Cell Therapy

open access: yesZhileng xuebao, 2021
In recent years, cell therapy technology for type 1 diabetes has advanced rapidly, but the lack of donor pancreatic islets and the time and space mismatch between donor and recipient limits its clinical application. Cryopreservation technology provides a
