Anisotropic Laser Performance in an Optically Isotropic Crystal by Phonon Engineering

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research
Symmetry is an eternal motif in understanding the characteristics of nearly all the laws and courses of science. The symmetry‐breaking in the optical crystal will generate a rich variety of unprecedented physical phenomena and create new functional ...

Secondary cold isostatic pressing-assisted pressureless sintering of high-density h-BN ceramics

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Ceramics
Owing to its strong B–N covalent bonds and inferior dissolution–precipitation characteristics in selected liquid phases, densification of h-BN ceramics is generally achieved via pressure-assisted sintering techniques.

Temperature Dependence of the Thermal, Electrical Resistivity, Dielectric and Piezoelectric Properties of CaYAl3O7 Crystal

open access: yesCrystals, 2018
Calcium yttrium aluminate (CaYAl3O7) crystal was grown and characterized in detail for high temperature piezoelectric sensors for the first time. The thermal properties of the CaYAl3O7 (CYAM) crystal were investigated systematically.

ON THE IMPERFECTIONS OF CRYSTALS [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, 1929
Imperfections of crystals may be either of mechanical or chemical nature. As will appear in the course of this investigation, the phenomena related to the chemical imperfections can hardly be understood without a preliminary knowledge of the mechanical defects of the crystals considered.

CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.

E2A selectively regulates TGF‐β–induced apoptosis in KRAS‐mutant non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Ability to induce apoptosis by TGF‐β is frequently lost in advanced lung adenocarcinoma despite intact TGF‐β signaling. We identify E2A as a mutant KRAS–dependent mediator of resistance to TGF‐β–induced apoptosis. TGF‐β induces E2A via SMAD3 in mutant KRAS cells, and E2A silencing restores apoptosis and enhances radiation response in cell lines ...

1D versus 2D cocrystals growth via microspacing in-air sublimation

open access: yesNature Communications, 2019
Organic cocrystals have interesting properties owing to synergistic effects of the individual components but development of effective growth methods for molecular cocrystals is still in its primary stage. Here the authors demonstrate a sublimation method

KDM7A and KDM1A inhibition suppresses tumour promoting pathways in prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Treatment resistance is a major challenge for patients with advanced prostate cancer. This study examined an alternative approach to target the major prostate cancer‐promoting pathway by targeting epigenetic factors, whose levels are higher in tumours.
