Effects of crystal quality and preferred orientation on the irreversible growth of compact TATB cylindrical explosives

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2013
Three kinds of 1,3,5-triamino-2,4,6-trinitrobenzene (TATB) cylinders compacted with TATB raw materials, recrystallized near-spherical and platy TATB crystals are compared to investigate the effects of crystal quality and preferred orientation on their ...

The heterogeneous globularization related to crystal and geometrical orientation of two-phase titanium alloys with a colony microstructure

open access: yesMaterials & Design, 2020
Understanding the heterogeneous globularization phenomena and the underlying mechanisms is important to process design for primary hot working of titanium alloys.

Crystal Orientation Dependence of the Portevin–Le Chatelier Effect in Instrumented Indentation: A Case Study in Twinning-Induced Plasticity Steels

open access: yesMetals, 2022
Instrumented indentation can be effectively used to investigate the Portevin–Le Chatelier (PLC) effect at small scales. It has been shown that the PLC effect in single crystals may depend on the crystal orientation, yet the underlying mechanism is ...

On the Orientation-Induced Crystallization of Polymers [PDF]

open access: yesPolymers, 2016
In order to understand orientation-induced crystallization of polymers, we introduced an intermolecular interaction between polymer chains based on quantum mechanics. We therefore considered a pair of perfectly extended chains where the intermolecular interaction is assumed to be based on the hydrogen interaction with a single chain.

Epitaxial growth of CH3NH3PbI3 on rubrene single crystal

open access: yesAPL Materials, 2020
CH3NH3PbI3 perovskite films were grown epitaxially on rubrene single crystals using the laser deposition method for the supply of the source materials (PbI2 and CH3NH3I). An atomically smooth surface with step-and-terrace structures was observed. Several

Substrate stimulating technique for Ni-based single crystal superalloy preparation during direction solidification

open access: yesMaterials & Design, 2022
The grain selector method is a prevailing technique in the manufacturing process of Ni-based single crystal superalloy, however, it cannot control the orientation of single crystal within an appropriate scope.

Crystal characteristics of fibrous calcite veins based on Electron Back Scattered Diffraction (EBSD)

open access: yesShiyou shiyan dizhi, 2022
Calcite veins are widely developed in organic-rich shale, and their petrological characteristics and genetic mechanism are the focus of research. The Electron Back Scatter Diffraction (EBSD) can characterize the micro-structure and orientation of mineral

Orientation and Crystallization in Polyester (II)

open access: yesKobunshi Kagaku, 1960

Analysis on the anisotropic electromechanical properties of lead magnoniobate titanate single crystal for ring type ultrasonic motors

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2016
This work discussed the optimized cut of single crystal lead magnoniobate titanate (PMNT) for use of ring type travelling wave ultrasonic motors (USMs), according to anisotropic analysis on electromechanical properties. The selection criterion of crystal

ORIENTATION AND SOLVATOCHROMISM OF DYES IN LIQUID CRYSTALS [PDF]

open access: yesMolecular Crystals and Liquid Crystals, 2003
The orientation and solvatochromism of some dye molecules in a liquid crystal have been investigated. Interactions with the host and the structure of the dye molecule affect the macroscopic alignment of dichroic dye molecules in a liquid crystal. It was observed that some dye molecules show a large bathochromic shift of their absorption maxima in the ...
