Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Method of controlling defect orientation in silicon crystal ribbon growth [PDF]
The orientation of twinning and other effects in silicon crystal ribbon growth is controlled by use of a starting seed crystal having a specific (110) crystallographic plane and (112) crystallographic growth ...

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Formation of porous Ga oxide with high-aspect-ratio nanoholes by anodizing single Ga crystal
I developed a simple crystal growth process to obtain a single Ga crystal. The crystal orientation of a Ga plate could be controlled by a crystal growth process using a seed Ga crystal.

Orientation-dependent indentation response of helium-implanted tungsten
A literature review of studies investigating the topography of nano-indents in ion-implanted materials reveals seemingly inconsistent observations, with report of both pile-up and sink-in.

This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve
