A novel quinazolinone insulin receptor inhibitor and its synergy with an EGFR inhibitor in glucose‐driven glioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The novel styrylquinazolinone‐based molecule W1B effectively suppresses glioblastoma by inhibiting IGF1R and EGFR. In high‐glucose microenvironments driving tumor resistance, W1B acts synergistically with the EGFR inhibitor dacomitinib. This combination safely blocks compensatory survival signaling in zebrafish xenograft models. Showcasing promising in

Stability Analysis of Ice Crystal Orientation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
The stability of ice crystal orientation is studied by modeling the air flow around ice crystals at moderate Reynolds number, where an ice crystal is approximated by a cylinder with three parameters: diameter D, length L, and zenith angle of the axis θ ...

Formation of porous Ga oxide with high-aspect-ratio nanoholes by anodizing single Ga crystal

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2023
I developed a simple crystal growth process to obtain a single Ga crystal. The crystal orientation of a Ga plate could be controlled by a crystal growth process using a seed Ga crystal.

Crystal Dislocations with Different Orientations and Collisions [PDF]

open access: yesArchive for Rational Mechanics and Analysis, 2014
We study a parabolic differential equation whose solution represents the atom dislocation in a crystal for a general type of Peierls-Nabarro model with possibly long range interactions and an external stress. Differently from the previous literature, we treat here the case in which such dislocation is not the superpositions of transitions all occurring

C2α‐carbanion‐protonating glutamate discloses tradeoffs between substrate accommodation and reaction rate in actinobacterial 2‐hydroxyacyl‐CoA lyase

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Enzymes of the 2‐hydroxyacyl‐CoA lyase group catalyze the condensation of formyl‐CoA with aldehydes or ketones. Thus, by structural adaptation of active sites, practically any pharmaceutically and industrially important 2‐hydroxyacid could be biotechnologically synthesized. Combining crystal structure analysis, active site mutations and kinetic assays,

A quantitative assessment of nanometric machinability of major polytypes of single crystal silicon carbide

open access: yes, 2012
The influence of polymorphism on nanometric machinability of single crystal silicon carbide (SiC) has been investigated through molecular dynamics (MD) simulation. The simulation results are compared with silicon as a reference material.

Multiscale modeling of upper mantle plasticity: From single-crystal rheology to multiphase aggregate deformation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We report a first application of an improved second-order (SO) viscoplastic self-consistent model for multiphase aggregates, applied to an olivine + diopside aggregate as analogue for a dry upper mantle peridotite deformed at 10 15 s 1 shear strain rate ...

A light‐triggered Time‐Resolved X‐ray Solution Scattering (TR‐XSS) workflow with application to protein conformational dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...

Crystal orientation-ordered ZnS nanobelt quasi-arrays and their enhanced field-emission

open access: yes, 2007
Crystal orientation-ordered ZnS nanobelt quasi-arrays were fabricated using a non-catalytic and template-free thermal evaporation process; field-emission measurements show that these novel arrays are decent field emitters possessing a current density ...

Exon 7 splicing of ERα predicts poor prognosis and increases phenotypic heterogeneity in luminal a subtype breast cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
ERα splice variant ERα∆7 lacks the C‐terminus, and its expression may change phenotypes of breast cancers. Our results showed that ERα∆7 is found in the luminal A subtype, and elevated ERα∆7 levels are linked to improved cell survival with lower proliferation and migration.
