Defect related switching field reduction in small magnetic particle arrays [PDF]
An array of 42 mum square, 3 mum thick garnet particles has been studied. The strong crystalline uniaxial anisotropy of these particles results in the stable remanent state being single domain with magnetization parallel to the film normal. Magneto-optic

Order-disorder phase change in embedded Si nano-particles
We investigated the relative stability of the amorphous vs crystalline nanoparticles of size ranging between 0.8 and 1.8 nm. We found that, at variance from bulk systems, at low T small nanoparticles are amorphous and they undergo to an amorphous-to ...

Structural and Chemical Orders in Ni64.5Zr35.5 Metallic Glass by Molecular Dynamics Simulation [PDF]
The atomic structure of Ni64.5Zr35.5 metallic glass has been investigated by molecular dynamics (MD) simulations. The calculated structure factors from the MD glassy sample at room temperature agree well with the X-ray diffraction (XRD) and neutron ...

Topological Crystalline Insulator Nanostructures
Topological crystalline insulators are topological insulators whose surface states are protected by the crystalline symmetry, instead of the time reversal symmetry.

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

FORMATION OF HYBRID CARBON sp2 AND sp3 PHASES FROM GRAPHENE LAYERS L4-8
In this paper research of carbon compounds is connected, which can be obtained as a result of partial cross-linking of graphene layers L4−8 . It is established that after cross-linking and geometry optimization of graphene layers L4−8 only diamond-like ...

Effect of magnetic field on the phase transition in a dusty plasma
The formation of self-consistent crystalline structure is a well-known phenomenon in complex plasmas. In most experiments the pressure and rf power are the main controlling parameters in determining the phase of the system.

Structural studies on bovine γ-crystallin [PDF]
The amino acid sequences around the cysteine residues in the lens protein, γ-crystallin, were studied. Fraction II of the γ-crystallin from calf lens (Björk, 1964) was used. The protein was oxidized with performic acid and then hydrolysed with trypsin. Six peptides containing cysteic acid were isolated.
