Optimization of the Production of Rubber Compounds Using Mathematical Models

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Rubber compounds were mixed in a batch internal mixer, and symbolic regression was used to derive mathematical models linking recipe and process parameters to ram path, torque, and mixing quality (incorporation, dispersion, distribution). Subsequent optimization with evolutionary algorithms identified operating conditions that reduce specific energy ...

On the global structure of crystalline surfaces [PDF]

open access: yesDiscrete & Computational Geometry, 1991
We bound the number of plane segments in a crystalline minimal surface S in terms of its Euler characteristic, the number of line segments in its boundary, and a factor determined by the Wulff shapeW of its surface energy function. A major technique in the proofs is to quantize the Gauss map ofS based on the Gauss map ofW. One thereby bounds the number

Direct Metal Deposition of Graphene–Ti28Nb35.4Zr Matrix Composites With Enhanced Mechanical, Corrosion, and Biocompatibility Properties for Bone Implants

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Graphene nanoplatelet (0.1 wt.%) reinforcement significantly enhances the performance of β Ti‐28Nb‐35.4Zr alloy. Grain refinement, reduced water contact angle, and improved surface characteristics promote osteoblast adhesion and complete surface coverage after 7 days.

Electrochemical Synthesis of Nanoparticles of Zinc Oxide Using Film Former MHB 3000 P2e

open access: yesФізика і хімія твердого тіла
In this work, we present the electrochemical synthesis of zinc oxide in the presence of film former  MHB 3000 P2e from a sodium chloride solution and the corresponding concentration of MHB 3000 P2e (in the range of 0 to 0.35 g/L).

Toward Knowledge‐Based Workflows: A Semantic Approach to Atomistic Simulations for Mechanical and Thermodynamic Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Knowledge‐based atomistic workflows are presented for mechanical and thermodynamic properties. By coupling modular simulations with ontology‐aligned metadata and provenance, Fe case studies on elastic behavior, defects, thermal properties, and Hall–Petch strengthening reveal how FAIR, queryable, and reusable simulation data can be generated. Mechanical

Evolución de la morfología y facetaje de nanoestructuras de SnO2 crecidas por pirólisis en fase aerosol sobre sustratos de vidrio

open access: yesBoletín de la Sociedad Española de Cerámica y Vidrio, 2004
Nanostructural characteristics of polycrystalline SnO2 thin films determine their psychical and chemical properties as semiconductor gas sensor. Tin oxide thin films obtained by spray pyrolysis deposition on glass substrates have been studied (35nm ...

Cathodic Cage Plasma Deposition of Nanostructured Cu–Fe–Se Coatings on Poly(methyl Methacrylate)

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Nanostructured Cu–Fe–Se coatings are deposited on PMMA by a modified cathodic cage plasma process, enabling low‐temperature deposition on polymer substrates. A transition from discontinuous to compact morphology is observed with temperature, with optimal properties at 200°C, where improved CuFeSe2‐type bonding, lowest sheet resistance, and favorable ...

Decreased oxygen permeability of EVOH through molecular interactions

open access: yeseXPRESS Polymer Letters, 2014
Poly(ethylene-co-vinyl alcohol) of 48 mol% ethylene content was modified with N,N'-bis(2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-4-piperidyl)-isophthalamide (Nylostab SEED) to decrease the oxygen permeability of the polymer.
