Challenges during Flash Lamp Annealing of Aerosol‐Deposited Barium Titanate Films

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Aerosol deposition is used to rapidly deposit barium titanate films with thicknesses ranging from 2 to 16 μm at room temperature, eliminating the need for further densification. However, to recover the electromechanical properties, annealing is required, which limits the usage of temperature‐sensitive substrates.

Strain Rate Induced Crystallization in Bulk Metallic Glass-Forming Liquid [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
We report on the solidification of Au49Ag5.5Pd2.3Cu26.9Si16.3 bulk metallic glass under various strain rates. Using a copper mold casting technique with a low strain rate during solidification, this alloy is capable of forming glassy rods of at least 5 ...

Mechanically Deposited Wear‐Resistant Amorphous Zr55Cu30Al10Ni5 Coatings

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Mechanically deposited from glassy ribbons, the Zr55Cu30Al10Ni5 amorphous coating formed a hard, continuous layer on AISI 1010 steel, tripling substrate hardness, lowering friction, and reducing wear. Despite its rough surface, it showed friction and wear behavior comparable to the crystalline alloy, highlighting its strong potential as a durable ...

Crystal Growth of Single Salicylamide Crystals [PDF]

open access: yesCrystal Growth & Design, 2019
Growth of single salicylamide crystals was investigated in a nonstirred growth cuvette and on a rotating disk. In the growth cuvette the crystal growth rates were measured for both primary nucleated crystals and seed crystals manually inserted into the cuvette.

Efficient Multifunctional Response and Polarization Switching in BiFeO3–PbZr0.58Ti0.42O3–MnFe2O4‐Based Triphasic Composites for Advanced Pulsating Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Triphasic BiFeO3–PbZr0.58Ti0.42O3–MnFe2O4 composites exhibit enhanced ferroelectric and magnetic behavior, achieving 70.76% energy‐storage efficiency and improved polarization switching. The coupling between ferroelectric and magnetic phases enables multifunctional performance, making these composites promising candidates for next‐generation energy ...

Fines Formation (and Prevention) in Seeded Precipitation Processes

open access: yesKONA Powder and Particle Journal, 2014
An overview of three studies on seeded precipitation in a fluidised bed reactor (FBR) is presented. The objective of using the FBR is to remove dissolved metals as precipitated metal salts onto a seed surface.

Isothermal Crystallization Kinetics of Poly(lactic acid) Stereocomplex/Graphene Nanocomposites [PDF]

open access: yesMaterials Research, 2017
The isothermal crystallization kinetics of PLA stereocomplex (scPLA) and scPLA/graphene oxide nanocomposites was investigated. scPLA was prepared by symmetric blending the two isomers, PLLA and PDLA and the scPLA nanocomposite by polymerization of the ...

Crystallization of Isotactic Poly(methylmethacrylate) in Monolayers and Thin Films [PDF]

open access: yes, 1991
Langmuir-Blodgett monolayers of isotactic PMMA exhibit a pressure-induced transition upon compression, that can be described in terms of a two-dimensional crystallization process, analogous to a normal melt crystallization.

Mechanically Adaptable High‐Performance p(SBMA‐MMA) Copolymer Hydrogel with Iron (II/III) Perchlorate for Wearable Thermocell Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 35, Issue 12, March 18, 2025.
A high‐performance n‐type element for quasi‐solid‐state thermocells has been introduced, outperforming conventional p‐type elements and showcasing the potential to harness body heat as an energy source or power embedded sensors. This advance significantly contributes to waste thermal energy harvesting and wearable technology, paving the way for self ...
