Abstract Ethylene is an important plant hormone whose production relies on the action of key enzymes, one of which is 1‐aminocyclopropane‐1‐carboxylate synthase (ACS). There are three classes of ACS, which are all partially regulated by degradation through the ubiquitin‐proteasome system (UPS), which regulates ethylene production.

Developing genetic tools to control the Oriental fruit fly: Potential approaches and target genes
Abstract The Oriental fruit fly, Bactrocera dorsalis, is a pest of significant economic interest that damages horticulture and causes major economic losses worldwide. The main control measures are based on insecticides, which are being increasingly restricted due to the development of genetic resistance.

Abstract This pilot experiment examines if a loss in muscle proteostasis occurs in people with obesity and whether endurance exercise positively influences either the abundance profile or turnover rate of proteins in this population. Men with (n = 3) or without (n = 4) obesity were recruited and underwent a 14‐d measurement protocol of daily deuterium ...

Genetic polymorphism of kappa casein and casein micelle size in the Bulgarian Rhodopean cattle breed [PDF]
The present study aimed to compare the size of casein micelle in cow milk sample in function of kappa casein (CSN3) genetic polymorphism. Sixteen cows from Bulgarian Rhodopean cattle breed were genotyped by PCR-RFLP analysis.

The aim of this study was to assess the influence of genotypes from the CSN3 and LGB loci on milk production and chemical composition in Romanian Simmental cattle (n=114). For the CSN3 locus a significantly higher frequency (P≤0.001) was observed for the allele A (0.785) compared to allele B (0.215) and for AA (0.631) compared to AB (0.307) and BB (0 ...
