Characterisation and function of TRIM23 in grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idella)
Fish & Shellfish Immunology, 2019Tripartite motif (TRIM) proteins are key components of the innate immune system, functioning as antiviral restriction factors or modulating signaling cascades that lead to proinflammatory cytokine induction. In the present study, the TRIM family gene TRIM23 from grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idella) was cloned and characterised.

Inheritance of albinism in the grass carp, Ctenopharyngodon idella
Aquaculture, 1993Abstract The inheritance of albinism in grass carp was investigated in a series of spawns involving wild-type colored×wild-type colored, albino×albino, wild-type colored×albino in both reciprocal combinations and the back-cross albino×(wild-type colored×albino). The results of these spawns showed that, as in rainbow trout, albinism is due to a single

Cloning, sequencing of the HSC70 gene in Ctenopharyngodon idella
Wuhan University Journal of Natural Sciences, 2014A cDNA encoding heat shock cognate protein 70 (HSC70) was cloned from liver of grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idella) (GenBank JF436930). This cDNA was found out to contain 2 346 bp in length, including 1 950 bp of complete coding sequence encoding 649 amino acids (aa), plus 89 bp of 5′-UTR and 307 bp of 3′-UTR. Analysis of its genomic structure revealed

Regional functional differentiation in the gut of the grasscarp, Ctenopharyngodon idella (Val.)
Histochemistry, 1979A regional differentiation--reflecting structural differences--of the intestine of larval and juvenile grasscarps can be illustrated by studying the activity of alkaline phosphatase and the uptake of orally administered horseradish peroxidase. Pinocytosis takes place in a welldefined area of about 23% of the length of the gut (segment II).

Functional characterisation of interleukin 34 in grass carp Ctenopharyngodon idella
Fish & Shellfish Immunology, 2019Interleukin (IL) 34 plays an important role in regulating macrophage functions and inflammation process. IL-34 homologues have recently been discovered in fish but the functions have not been studied. In this study, an IL-34 homologue was identified in grass carp Ctenopharyngodon idella and its bioactivities were investigated.

Identification and characterization of the TLR18 gene in grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idella)
Fish & Shellfish Immunology, 2015Toll-like receptors (TLRs) play a critical role in the innate immune system. Although TLR18 is an important member of this family of receptors in fish, the role of the tlr18 gene in responses to pathogen infection is still unclear. In this study, we identified and characterized the grass carp tlr18 gene (gctlr18) to further clarify the function of ...

Characterization of oligopeptide transporter (PepT1) in grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idella)
Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology Part B: Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, 2013The oligopeptide transporter (PepT1) is located on the brush-border membrane of the intestinal epithelium, and plays an important role in dipeptide and tripeptide absorptions from protein digestion. In this study, we cloned the PepT1 cDNA from grass carp and characterized its expression profile in response to dietary protein and feed additives (sodium ...

Grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idella Val.) in Europe
Aquatic Botany, 1977The grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idella Val.) was introduced in Europe to improve fish production, but the possibilities for aquatic weed control are more emphasized now. From research in various countries it is concluded that the efficiency of the fish for weed control is high, that costs are low and that no severe side-effects are observed.

Grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idella) in ponds and cages in China.
2020Abstract In China, broodstock conditioning of grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idella) is conducted in earthen ponds at a density of 2,250 - 3,000 kg ha-1 and at a male to female ratio of 1:1 or 1:1.25. Vegetation such as duckweed and rye grass and small amounts of farm-made or commercial feed are given.

Induced triploidy in grass carp, Ctenopharyngodon idella Val
Aquaculture, 1985Abstract Induction of triploidy in grass carp was accomplished by means of thermal shocks to eggs shortly after fertilization. Triploidy occurred most often with cold shocks at 5–7°C and at durations of 25–30 min starting 2.0–4.5 min after fertilization. Estimated percent triploid ranged from 50 to 100% on five occasions.
