Engineering Fracture Mechanics, 1994Abstract The fracture behaviour of two types of welds with microstructural inhomogeneity is discussed using the concept of the specific energy γ pk . The relationship between the macroscopic fracture parameters, e.g. CTOD and J -integral, and the microstructural inhomogeneity is obtained.

CTOD and J Relationships for a Growing Crack
1986Tests were performed on three steels, A533-B, A508 Class 2, and ASTM A240 Thype 304 stainless. These materials exhibit a wide range of properties; their strain-hardening exponents n are within the range of 8 to 12 while their flow stresses sigma-O are within the range of 45 to 90 ksi.
