Interaction of carbapenems and β-lactamase inhibitors towards CTX-M-15 and CTX-M-15 G238C mutant
The aim of this study was to evaluate the role of residue 238 in CTX-M-15 and CTX-M-15G238C mutant with respect to carbapenems and various β-lactamase inhibitors.A CTX-M-15G238C laboratory mutant was generated by site-directed mutagenesis from CTX-M-15 enzyme by replacing glycine 238 with cysteine.

Emergence of Enterobacteriaceae co-producing CTX-M-15, ArmA and PMQR in Poland [PDF]
Plasmid-mediated extended-spectrum β-lactamases (ESBLs), 16S rRNA methylases and quinolone resistance mechanisms (PMQRs) are well-known agents conferring resistance to more than 1 antimicrobial in its group. The accumulation of these agents poses, therefore, a serious risk to public health. The objective of this study was to investigate the presence of ...

Clonal spread of CTX-M-15-producing Klebsiella pneumoniae in a Croatian hospital [PDF]
This study was conducted to detect and analyse the presence of extended-spectrum β-lactamase (ESBL)-producing Klebsiella pneumoniae associated with a nosocomial outbreak at a Croatian hospital. During 2007, 162 K. pneumoniae isolates with reduced susceptibility to third-generation cephalosporins were collected from various hospital units and patient ...

The occurrence of CTX-M–producing E. coli in the broiler parent stock in Korea
A large number of antimicrobials are used for the treatment of bacterial infections, and the emergence of antimicrobial-resistant Escherichia coli (E. coli) in livestock and the transfer of resistant isolates to humans poses a serious potential risk to ...

Broad-spectrum β-lactamases among Enterobacteriaceae of animal origin: molecular aspects, mobility and impact on public health [PDF]
Broad-spectrum β-lactamase genes (coding for extended-spectrum β-lactamases (ESBLs) and AmpC β-lactamases) have been frequently demonstrated in the microbiota of food-producing animals. This may pose a human health hazard since these genes may be present

Intercontinental emergence of Escherichia coli clone O25:H4-ST131 producing CTX-M-15 [PDF]
Concomitant with the recent emergence of CTX-M-type extended-spectrum beta-lactamases (ESBLs), Escherichia coli has become the enterobacterial species most affected by ESBLs. Multiple locales are encountering CTX-M-positive E. coli, including specifically CTX-M-15.
