Mycobacterium tuberculosis sulfurtransferase SseA is activated by its neighboring gene product Rv3284

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Tuberculosis remains a global health challenge and new therapeutic targets are required. Here, we characterized SseA, a sulfurtransferase from Mycobacterium tuberculosis involved in macrophage infection, and its interaction with the newly identified protein SufEMtb that activates SseA enzymatic activity.

Outshining Aura: How Modernist Film Refashions the Myth of Don Quixote

open access: yesOpen Cultural Studies, 2017
This paper aims at examining the first Don Quixote sound film The Adventures of Don Quixote, directed by G.W. Pabst in 1933, as well as the songs and musical themes that two great French composers, Ravel and Ibert composed for the Russian baritone Feodor

A THEORETICAL VIEW OF THE STRUCTURAL TRANSFORMATION OF LITERARY GENRES IN THE FACE OF THE DEVELOPMENT OF MASS MEDIA: THE CASE OF TURKISH LITERATURE [PDF]

open access: yesЕзиков свят
The theoretical debates made around the interaction of mass media with literary production contributed to the formation of a lively and fertile intellectual infrastructure of the Turkish criticism of the Republican era. The transformative effect of the

Archaeal protein containing domain of unknown function 2193 undergoes oligomeric reconfiguration upon iron–sulfur cluster binding

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This work presents the characterization of MvoDUF2193, a Methanococcus voltae (Mvo) protein from the domain of unknown function (DUF) 2193 family. We demonstrate that MvoDUF2193 binds a single [4Fe–4S] cluster per subunit and that cluster occupancy regulates the transition from an apo tetramer to a [4Fe–4S] monomeric form. This structural transition is

ERBIN limits epithelial cell plasticity via suppression of TGF‐β signaling

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In breast and lung cancer patients, low ERBIN expression correlates with poor clinical outcomes. Here, we show that ERBIN inhibits TGF‐β‐induced epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in NMuMG breast and A549 lung adenocarcinoma cell lines. ERBIN suppresses TGF‐β/SMAD signaling and reduces TGF‐β‐induced ERK phosphorylation.

Redox‐dependent binding and conformational equilibria govern the fluorescence decay of NAD(P)H in living cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this work, we reveal how different enzyme binding configurations influence the fluorescence decay of NAD(P)H in live cells using time‐resolved anisotropy imaging and fluorescence lifetime imaging microscopy (FLIM). Mathematical modelling shows that the redox states of the NAD and NADP pools govern these configurations, shaping their fluorescence ...

MET variants with activating N‐lobe mutations identified in hereditary papillary renal cell carcinomas still require ligand stimulation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
MET variants in the N‐lobe of the kinase domain, found in hereditary papillary renal cell carcinoma, require ligand stimulation to promote cell transformation, in contrast to other RTK variants. This suggests that HGF expression in the microenvironment is important for tumor growth in such patients. Their sensitivity to MET inhibitors opens the way for

Peripheral blood proteome biomarkers distinguish immunosuppressive features of cancer progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Immune status significantly influences cancer progression. This study used plasma proteomics to analyze benign 67NR and malignant 4T1 breast tumor models at early and late tumor stages. Immune‐related proteins–osteopontin (Spp1), lactotransferrin (Ltf), calreticulin (Calr) and peroxiredoxin 2 (Prdx2)–were associated with systemic myeloid‐derived ...
