Cumulus

Proceedings of the 2nd international workshop on Scientific cloud computing, 2011
Amazon's S3 protocol has emerged as the de facto interface for storage in the commercial data cloud. However, it is closed source and unavailable to the numerous science data centers all over the country. Just as Amazon's Simple Storage Service (S3) provides reliable data cloud access to commercial users, scientific data centers must provide their ...

On cumulus mergers

Archiv für Meteorologie, Geophysik und Bioklimatologie Serie A, 1980
A study of cumulus mergers for three undisturbed untreated days in the summer of 1973 is reported. Mergers produce more than an order of magnitude more rain than unmerged echoes, while mergers of mergers produce still an order of magnitude more rain. Duration, echo area, and rain depths are also compared for merged and unmerged systems, and each day is

Red-based cumulus

Applied Optics, 2015
Observations and model simulations of cumulus clouds whose bases are tinted red when the Sun is well above the horizon are presented. Conditions for seeing red bases include (1) a red underlying surface (which may consist of dust clouds, as from haboobs) with high albedo, (2) small fractional cloud cover when the Sun is far enough below the zenith for ...

[Oocyte-cumulus dialog].

Gynecologie, obstetrique & fertilite, 2006
The dialog between oocyte and cumulus cells brings a major contribution for oocyte meiotic and developmental competence. On the one hand, the oocyte will modulate follicle growth through specific gene expression (Figalpha, GDF-9, BMP15) as well as its meiosis (GPR3 et PDE3A).

Timing of in-vitro fertilization of cumulus-free and cumulus-enclosed human oocytes

Human Reproduction, 1986
In humans, in contrast to other species, sperm capacitation requires a very short time, as in-vitro fertilization has been obtained after only 45 min of contact between oocytes and spermatozoa capacitated for 1 h. No fertilization occurred, whatever the duration of sperm capacitation, when gamete mixing did not exceed 30 min.

The Macroscopic Behavior of Cumulus Ensembles Simulated by a Cumulus Ensemble Model

Journal of the Atmospheric Sciences, 1992
A number of simulation experiments are performed with the 2D UCLA cumulus ensemble model to study the macroscopic behavior of cumulus convection under a variety of different large-scale and underlying surface conditions. Specifically, the modulation of cumulus activity by the imposed large-scale processes and the eddy kinetic energy (EKE) budget are ...

Viscoelastic properties of cumulus oöphorus

Biorheology, 1976
An experimental technique suitable for the determination of the rheological properties of minute, biological viscoelastic solid specimens is presented. This technique is employed to ascertain the viscoelastic properties of the rabbit cumulus oöphorus. The experimental results when analyzed using the finite theory of elasticity reveal that the cumulus ...
