Numerical Prediction of Temperature Distribution in Transient RTM Process [PDF]

open access: yesIranian Journal of Chemistry & Chemical Engineering, 2004
Resin Transfer Molding (RTM) is a composite manufacturing process. A preformed fiber is placed in a closed mold and a viscous resin is injected into the mold.

Wound healing and dry matter content of orange-fleshed sweetpotato cultivars as influenced by curing methods

open access: yesOpen Agriculture, 2017
Curing in sweetpotato is a crucial pre- or postharvest practice that could guarantee improved shelf life, but rarely practised by sweetpotato farmers in Sub-Saharan Africa, principally due to lack of knowledge.

Goodbye flat lymphoma biology

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Three‐dimensional (3D) biological systems have become key tools in lymphoma research, offering reliable in vitro and ex vivo platforms to explore pathogenesis and support precision medicine. This review highlights current 3D non‐Hodgkin lymphoma models, detailing their features, advantages, and limitations, and provides a broad perspective on future ...

There is a cure

open access: yesNew Scientist, 2017
Allen talks about the winter crises in the UK's National Health Service. In one sense, the NHS is a victim of its own success: survival rates for childhood illness, heart attacks and cancers have risen. The result is a growing, greying cohort with multiple chronic conditions, whose needs put pressure on family doctors. Exacerbating this is a failure to

Aβ42 promotes the aggregation of α‐synuclein splice isoforms via heterogeneous nucleation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The aggregation of amyloid‐β (Aβ) and α‐synuclein (αSyn) is associated with Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases. This study reveals that Aβ aggregates serve as potent nucleation sites for the aggregation of αSyn and its splice isoforms, shedding light on the intricate interplay between these two pathogenic proteins.

The Cost of Uncertainty in Curing Epidemics

open access: yes, 2018
Motivated by the study of controlling (curing) epidemics, we consider the spread of an SI process on a known graph, where we have a limited budget to use to transition infected nodes back to the susceptible state (i.e., to cure nodes).

Ergothioneine supplementation improves pup phenotype and survival in a murine model of spinal muscular atrophy

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) is a genetic disease affecting motor neurons. Individuals with SMA experience mitochondrial dysfunction and oxidative stress. The aim of the study was to investigate the effect of an antioxidant and neuroprotective substance, ergothioneine (ERGO), on an SMNΔ7 mouse model of SMA.

Curing America\u27s Addiction to Prisons [PDF]

open access: yes, 1993
Our prisons have failed society because they do not, generally, provide an experience that is likely to help offenders overcome the obstacles that led them to make mistakes for which they are now being punished.
