A permalloy current sensor

IEEE Transactions on Magnetics, 1976
The design, fabrication and output characteristics of a thin film Permalloy magnetoresistive magnetic field sensor in a balanced bridge configuration are described. The bridge elements consist of two magnetostatically coupled Permalloy films (100 to 500 A°) separated by a thin film titanium spacer (100 to 1,000 A°).

Hall Current Sensor

2020
Hall sensors are used to extend the limited low-frequency range of Rogowski coils towards DC signal currents. A comparison of different symmetrical planar Hall devices shows that the cross-shaped layout achieves the highest sensitivity. Therefore, for on-chip current sensing, a cross-shaped Hall device is placed besides a power line and measures ...

Characteristics of Optical Current Sensors by Sensor Design

Journal of the Korean Institute of Illuminating and Electrical Installation Engineers, 2007
This paper will suggest that the 1 cross orthogonal loop type sensor improves on the orthogonal loop form sensor-head, which is available a calibration of the linear birefringence, when a fiber optic current sensor was composed, An output characteristics of the 1 cross orthogonal loop form, a general closed loop form, the orthogonal loop form are ...

Novel Practical Built-in Current Sensors

Journal of Electronic Testing, 2012
In this paper, we propose three new built-in current sensors (BICS) topologies for on-chip IDDQ tests of analog/mixed-signal (AMS) circuits with the objective to achieve low design complexity, small area overhead and high accuracy. The first two approaches are derived from digital varicap threshold logic (VcTL) gate idea where the structure is modified

A current threshold sensor

IEEE Transactions on Magnetics, 1979
A novel current threshold sensor of simple construction utilizes the precipitous reversal of magnetization within a cylindrical ferromagnetic shell endowed with a helical easy axis. When driven by a coaxially conducted alternating current of sufficient magnitude, the sense of the helical magnetization is periodically reversed.

Faraday current sensor with temperature monitoring

Applied Optics, 2005
We present a novel optical current sensor based on the Faraday effect that incorporates a temperature monitoring system. The monitoring element is a temperature-dependent birefringent plate placed at the Faraday sensor head. Measurement of the plate retardation permits compensation for the temperature dependence of the Verdet constant.

The tunnel current as a subnanometer motion sensor

2009 European Control Conference (ECC), 2009
This paper proposes a new approach in order to use the tunnel current as a position sensor at nanoscale. It is shown that electron tunneling commonly used in Scanning Tunneling Microscopes (STM) can be used to control the motion of a Nano Electromechanical System (NEMS) with an accuracy of 1.10−12m/√Hz, at ambient temperature, and using only one ...

Self-powered lightning current sensor

2016 IEEE SENSORS, 2016
In this paper, a self-powered lightning current sensor based on the electromagnetic induction principle has been proposed. The sensor whose signal coil and power harvesting coil are nested in lightning channel (such as grounding wire of lightning arresters) can be triggered and powered by the lighting current.

High-voltage bidirectional current sensor

2017 IEEE 12th International Conference on ASIC (ASICON), 2017
A high-voltage (HV) bidirectional current sensor using fully-differential amplifier (FDA) is designed and analyzed in this investigation. The FDA balances bidirectional input voltages of the HV current sensor by a feedback loop. Thus, the proposed design can detect the direction and magnitude of the current by the difference between the output voltage ...

Current sensor using heterodyne detection

Applied Optics, 1999
Based on the Faraday effect for measuring ac current, we describe a fiber-optic sensor that uses laser-diode intensity modulation to perform heterodyne signal detection. The sensor output at the carrier frequency is used as a reference signal to normalize the results.
