KDM7A and KDM1A inhibition suppresses tumour promoting pathways in prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Treatment resistance is a major challenge for patients with advanced prostate cancer. This study examined an alternative approach to target the major prostate cancer‐promoting pathway by targeting epigenetic factors, whose levels are higher in tumours.

A Mini-Two-Path Mach–Zehnder Interferometer Sensor with High Curvature Sensitivity Based on Four-Mode Fiber

open access: yesMicromachines
We have proposed and presented a hybrid mini-two-path Mach–Zehnder interferometer (MTP-MZI) sensor based on four-mode fiber (FMF), where the reference path comprises of a section of a single-mode fiber (SMF), and the sensing path adopts a structure of ...

Fiber-Optic Curvature Sensor Based on Cladding-Mode Bragg Grating Excited by Fiber Multimode Interferometer

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2012
A sensing structure consisting of a short multimode fiber (MMF) spliced in just upstream of a uniform fiber Bragg grating (FBG) is proposed and experimentally demonstrated for temperature-independent curvature measurement. The short MMF section generates

Curvature sensing of curvature-inducing proteins with internal structure

open access: yesPhysical Review E
Many types of peripheral and transmembrane proteins can sense and generate membrane curvature. Laterally isotropic proteins and crescent proteins with twofold rotational symmetry, such as Bin/Amphiphysin/Rvs superfamily proteins, have been studied theoretically. However, proteins often have an asymmetric structure or a higher rotational symmetry.

A model for the behavior of fluid droplets based on mean curvature flow [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The authors of [W. D. Ristenpart et al., Nature, 461 (2009), pp. 377–380] have observed the following remarkable phenomenon during their experiments.

Transcriptional profiling of circulating extracellular vesicles from prebiopsy prostate cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
RNA profiling of circulating extracellular vesicles (EVs) from blood samples of men undergoing prostate biopsy identifies transcripts associated with clinically significant prostate cancer. Integrative analysis with public tumor datasets links EV‐derived gene signatures to tumor stage and progression‐free survival, highlighting CASP3, XRCC2, and RIT1 ...

Fiber Fabry-Perot interferometer for curvature sensing [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
A curvature sensor based on an Fabry-Perot (FP) interferometer was proposed. A capillary silica tube was fusion spliced between two single mode fibers, producing an FP cavity.

Loss of IGF‐1R impairs DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin leading to defective end‐joining

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
IGF‐1R promotes radioresistance by facilitating DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin, enabling non‐homologous end‐joining (NHEJ) repair of double‐strand breaks. Inhibition or loss of IGF‐1R disrupts this recruitment to damage sites, driving compensatory reliance on microhomology‐mediated end‐joining (MMEJ) repair.

USP29‐regulated noncanonical stabilization of the hypoxia‐inducible factor‐α in aggressive prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We identify USP29 as the only DUB mirroring CA9 expression, a marker of hypoxia and HIF pathway activation associated with PCA aggressiveness. USP29 stabilizes HIF‐1α and HIF‐2α via a noncanonical mechanism that is independent of PHD/pVHL activity yet relies on proteasomal regulation, establishing USP29 as a previously unrecognized regulator of hypoxic

Finding novel vulnerabilities of hypomorphic BRCA1 alleles

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Synthetic lethality screens performed to identify novel vulnerabilities often model complete gene loss, thereby overlooking patient‐derived hypomorphic mutations. In this study, we have performed genome‐wide CRISPR screens on BRCA1 hypomorphic mutations, showing BRCA1I26A behaves like wild‐type, while BRCA1R1699Q mimics deficiency. Furthermore, we have
