CycleGAN Clinical Image Augmentation Based on Mask Self-Attention Mechanism

open access: yes, 2022
With the development of society and the advancement of science and technology, artificial intelligence has also emerged as the times require. In computer vision, deep learning based on convolutional neural networks(CNN) achieves state-of-the-art ...

From mice to humans—divergent strategies for intestinal homeostasis and regeneration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Recent advances such as organoid genome editing, xenotransplantation, imaging, and whole‐genome sequencing have enabled direct studies of human intestinal stem cells (ISCs). These studies reveal species‐specific features, including slower ISC proliferation, distinct injury responses, slower somatic mutation accumulation in humans, and an inverse ...

An Efficient Data Cleaning Method for Renewable Energy Power Stations Integrating Anomaly Detection and Feature Enhancement

open access: yesEnergies
Improving the prediction accuracy of renewable energy power generation units is an important goal of the “source-storage integration” approach. However, the abundance of anomalous data and indistinct features in renewable energy station data seriously ...

Is there a more effective way to reduce carbon emissions? [PDF]

open access: yes
Whilst emissions trading systems are widely held to be able to deliver lowest-cost abatement, uncertainty reduces their effectiveness. We consider a new scheme, the Tender-Price Allocation Mechanism, which focuses carbon factor cost expenditure on ...

Phosphoinositides and inositol phosphates as molecular glues

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol phosphates (IPs) and phosphoinositides (PIPs) regulate diverse eukaryotic processes. Beyond recruiting signaling proteins or acting as structural cofactors, recent studies suggest they mediate protein–protein interactions as natural molecular glues.

PARK(ing) time–How park deficiency affects the biological clock in a Drosophila model of Parkinson's disease

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Drosophila park mutants serve as a model for Parkinson's disease. We used this strain to investigate the connection between oxidative stress and the circadian clock mechanism. We showed that increased oxidative stress affects the physiology of pacemaker cells, disrupting their daily structural plasticity. Lack of rhythmic signaling from pacemaker cells

The role of miR‐335‐5p in the redifferentiation of BRAF p.V600E thyroid cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The BRAF p.V600E mutation promotes thyroid cancer dedifferentiation and radioiodine resistance. Using a network approach, we identified miR‐335‐5p as a key regulator of BRAF‐mutated thyroid tumors. Restoring miR‐335‐5p increased thyroid‐specific gene expression and iodine uptake in cells and organoids.

Experimental results from a 12 kW vertical axis wind turbine with a direct driven PM synchronous generator

open access: yes, 2007
Experimental results from a three bladed vertical axis wind turbine with a direct driven PM synchronous generatorare presented. The H-rotor turbine, independent of wind direction, does not require any yaw mechanism.Furthermore, the variable speed, stall ...

Subtype‐specific enhancer RNAs define transcriptional regulators and prognosis in breast cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study employed machine learning methodologies to perform the subtype‐specific classification of RNA‐seq data sets, which are mapped on enhancers from TCGA‐derived breast cancer patients. Their integration with gene expression (referred to as ProxCReAM eRNAs) and chromatin accessibility profiles has the potential to identify lineage‐specific and ...

Research on the Spiral Rolling Gait of High-Voltage Power Line Serpentine Robots Based on Improved Hopf-CPGs Model

open access: yesApplied Sciences
The efficiency of helical locomotion in snake-like robots along high-voltage transmission lines is often hindered by low motion efficiency, high joint signal noise, and challenges in traversing obstacles.
