The present review aims to provide an overview of the main emerging skin epithelial tumours, with particular emphasis on salivary gland analogue sweat gland tumours and poorly differentiated carcinomas. Epidermal and adnexal tumours of the skin constitute a complex and heterogeneous group of neoplasms, with distinct morphology and behaviour.

This review provides an update on the epidemiology, pathogenesis, and clinical/histologic features of cutaneous leiomyosarcoma. Prognostic factors (e.g., depth of tumor involvement, grade, etc.) that can facilitate risk stratification are also discussed, as are treatment approaches for this rare malignancy.
