Model- predictive parameter and path planning in laser cutting

ICALEO '95: Proceedings of the Laser Materials Processing Conference, 1995
Although industrial lasers exhibit high potential for material, geometric, process and volume flexibility, in practice laser processing is still limited to repetitive, high rate operations. This is mainly due to the trail-and-error calibrations involved in obtaining an acceptable operating condition wherever changes in workpiece thickness, material ...

Model-based path planning for laser cutting of curved trajectories

International Journal of Machine Tools and Manufacture, 1996
Abstract An analytical model of evaporative laser cutting over a curved beam trajectory is presented. A curved cutting path produces three main changes in the kerf profile compared with straight-line cutting: (1) an increase in the kerf width, (2) a shift of the kerf centerline position towards the center of rotation, and (3) asymmetry between the ...

Grinding path planning for the cutting teeth of helical broaching tool

The International Journal of Advanced Manufacturing Technology, 2016
Despite helical broaching being an excellent method for internal helical ring gear manufacturing with regard to its machining efficiency and precision, the manufacture of this special helical broaching tool is a severe challenge because of its complex geometric structure like dual-spiral and step-feed pattern of cutting teeth as well as the tiny offset

Path Planning For A Class Of Cutting Operations

SPIE Proceedings, 1989
Optimizing processing time in some contour-cutting operations requires solving the so-called no-load path problem. This problem is formulated and an approximate resolution method (based on heuristic search techniques) is described. Results for real-life instances (clothing layouts in the apparel industry) are presented and evaluated.

Automated Path Planning for Plug & Produce in a Cutting-tool Changing Application

2019 24th IEEE International Conference on Emerging Technologies and Factory Automation (ETFA), 2019
In this paper, a path planning algorithm is designed and tested with a real robot for a Plug & Produce demonstrator. The demonstrator is divided into modules that can be connected and removed. Modules are used for various processes like tool change and storage. This paper focuses on the process of cutting-tool change for the production industry.
