Experimental Investigation on the Effects of Cutting Direction and Joint Spacing on the Cuttability Behaviour of a Conical Pick in Jointed Rock Mass

open access: yesApplied Sciences
In this study, a series of rock cutting tests was conducted using a conical pick to investigate the effect of joints on roadheader performance. Tests were performed on intact rock and jointed rock mass specimens with three different joint spacings.

Multiple Cuts with a Homogeneous Analytic Center Cutting Plane Method

open access: yesComputational Optimization and Applications, 2003
This paper analyzes the introduction of multiple central cuts in a conic formulation of the analytic center cutting plane method (in short ACCPM). This work extends earlier work on the homogeneous ACCPM, and parallels the analysis of the multiple cuts process in the standard ACCPM.

A cutting plane algorithm for Modularity maximization with heuristics for separation problem [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The modularity proposed by Newman and Girvan is the most commonly used measure when the nodes of a graph are grouped into communities consisting of tightly connectednodes.

In vitro models of cancer‐associated fibroblast heterogeneity uncover subtype‐specific effects of CRISPR perturbations

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Development of therapies targeting cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) necessitates preclinical model systems that faithfully represent CAF–tumor biology. We established an in vitro coculture system of patient‐derived pancreatic CAFs and tumor cell lines and demonstrated its recapitulation of primary CAF–tumor biology with single‐cell transcriptomics ...

Anisotropy of Single-Crystal Silicon in Nanometric Cutting

open access: yesNanoscale Research Letters, 2017
The anisotropy exhibited by single-crystal silicon in nanometric cutting is very significant. In order to profoundly understand the effect of crystal anisotropy on cutting behaviors, a large-scale molecular dynamics model was conducted to simulate the ...

Molecular characterisation of human penile carcinoma and generation of paired epithelial primary cell lines

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Generation of two normal and tumour (cancerous) paired human cell lines using an established tissue culture technique and their characterisation is described. Cell lines were characterised at cellular, protein, chromosome and gene expression levels and for HPV status.

Methylation biomarkers can distinguish pleural mesothelioma from healthy pleura and other pleural pathologies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We developed and validated a DNA methylation–based biomarker panel to distinguish pleural mesothelioma from other pleural conditions. Using the IMPRESS technology, we translated this panel into a clinically applicable assay. The resulting two classifier models demonstrated excellent performance, achieving high AUC values and strong diagnostic accuracy.

The Investigation of Coated Tools Tribological Characteristics Influence on the Cutting Process and the Quality Parameters of the Parts Surface Layer [PDF]

open access: yesTribology in Industry, 2013
The influence of cutting tools nanostructured coatings on the parameters of machined parts surface layer has been researched. The interaction between friction characteristics of coated tools and shear plane angle during machining has been determined. The

Perspectives in educating molecular pathologists on liquid biopsy: Toward integrative, equitable, and decentralized precision oncology

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Liquid biopsy enables minimally invasive, real‐time molecular profiling through analysis of circulating biomarkers in biological fluids. This Perspective highlights the importance of training pathologists through integrative educational programs, such as the European Masters in Molecular Pathology, to ensure effective and equitable implementation of ...
