The Cutting Plane method is a simple and efficient method for optimizing convex functions in which subgradients are available. This paper proposes several methods for parallelizing it, in particular using a typically evolutionary method, and compares them experimentally in a well-conditioned and ill-conditioned settings.

Cutting rectangles in the plane
AbstractLet F be a planar family of pairwise disjoint translates of a parallelogram. It is shown that if every four members of F are intersected by some straight line, then there is a straight line which intersects all but at most two members of F. If it is instead assumed that every two members of F are intersected by some line that is parallel to one

Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

In this study, we proposed proximal analytic center cutting plane algorithms for solving variational inequalities whose domains are normal regions. Our algorithms stop with a solution of the variational inequality after a finite number of iterations, or ...

Computer-aided design of bevel gear tooth surfaces [PDF]
This paper presents a computer-aided design procedure for generating bevel gears. The development is based on examining a perfectly plastic, cone-shaped gear blank rolling over a cutting tooth on a plane crown rack.

Exploiting metabolic adaptations to overcome dabrafenib treatment resistance in melanoma cells
We show that dabrafenib‐resistant melanoma cells undergo mitochondrial remodeling, leading to elevated respiration and ROS production balanced by stronger antioxidant defenses. This altered redox state promotes survival despite mitochondrial damage but renders resistant cells highly vulnerable to ROS‐inducing compounds such as PEITC, highlighting redox
