The CXC Chemokine Receptor 2, CXCR2, Is the Putative Receptor for ELR+ CXC Chemokine-Induced Angiogenic Activity [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Immunology, 2000
AbstractWe have previously shown that members of the ELR+ CXC chemokine family, including IL-8; growth-related oncogenes α, β, and γ; granulocyte chemotactic protein 2; and epithelial neutrophil-activating protein-78, can mediate angiogenesis in the absence of preceding inflammation. To date, the receptor on endothelial cells responsible for chemotaxis

Differential expression of three T lymphocyte-activating CXC chemokines by human atheroma-associated cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Activated T lymphocytes accumulate early in atheroma formation and persist at sites of lesion growth and rupture, suggesting that they may play an important role in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis.

Mesenchymal stromal cell therapy for rheumatoid arthritis: Long‐term efficacy, safety, and mechanistic insights

open access: yesRheumatology &Autoimmunity, EarlyView.
Graphical abstract summarizing the multifactorial pathogenesis of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and the therapeutic potential of mesenchymal stromal cell (MSC) therapy. MSCs provide promising benefits through their immunomodulatory properties, low immunogenicity, ability to promote tissue repair, and multi‐lineage differentiation, presenting a potential ...

The relationship between oxidised LDL, endothelial progenitor cells and coronary endothelial function in patients with CHD [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Objective The balance between coronary endothelial dysfunction and repair is influenced by many protective and deleterious factors circulating in the blood.

Penile rehabilitation in men after radical robotic prostatectomy: Fact or fiction?

open access: yesUroPrecision, EarlyView.
Abstract Erectile dysfunction (ED) is one of the most frequent and distressing complications after radical prostatectomy (RP), significantly impairing patients’ quality of life and intimate relationships. Penile rehabilitation (PR) aims to preserve erectile tissue integrity, prevent fibrosis, and facilitate early functional recovery by restoring ...

CXCL12-induced neurotoxicity critically depends on NMDA receptor-gated and L-type Ca2+ channels upstream of p38 MAPK. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
BackgroundThe chemokine receptor CXCR4 (CD184) and its natural ligand CXCL12 contribute to many physiological processes, including decisions about cell death and survival in the central nervous system.

Chemotherapy‐driven expression of WNT ligands in bone marrow stromal cells contributes to chemoresistance in acute lymphoblastic leukaemia

open access: yesBritish Journal of Haematology, EarlyView.
Chemotherapy‐induced WNT ligand secretion by bone marrow (BM) stroma drives acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL) chemoresistance. WNT pathway inhibition disrupts this cross‐talk and restores therapeutic response, highlighting WNT inhibitors as a promising strategy to prevent relapse in ALL.

Activation of cytokines and NF-kappa B in corneal epithelial cells infected by respiratory syncytial virus: potential relevance in ocular inflammation and respiratory infection [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
BACKGROUND: Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is a major cause of lower respiratory tract infection, claiming millions of lives annually. The virus infects various cells of the respiratory tract as well as resident inflammatory cells such as macrophages.

Application Strategies of Bone Marrow Mesenchymal Stromal Cells in Bone‐Related Diseases

open access: yesCell Proliferation, EarlyView.
Engineered BMSCs and vesicles enhance therapy effects for bone diseases via multi‐strategic approaches. ABSTRACT Bone‐related diseases (e.g., osteoporosis, osteoarthritis and fractures) exhibit a rising global incidence, imposing significant burdens on both quality of life and healthcare systems.

Chemokine Function in Periodontal Disease and Oral Cavity Cancer [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The chemotactic cytokines, or chemokines, comprise a superfamily of polypeptides with a wide range of activities that include recruitment of immune cells to sites of infection and inflammation, as well as stimulation of cell proliferation.
