Microbial Fermentation by Traditional Process using Intrinsic Microflora Reduces the Cyanide Content of Bamboo Shoots

open access: yes, 2017
Ethnic people living in the North-East India, Nepal and Bhutan prepare and consume a variety of domesticated and wild bamboo tender shoots. Fermented bamboo shoots are consumed as a component of regular delicacies.

Biological Remediation of Cyanide: A Review

open access: yesBiotropia: The Southeast Asian Journal of Tropical Biology, 2016
Cyanide and its complexes are produced by industries all over the world as waste or effluents. Biodegradation is considered to be the cheapest and the most effective method to get rid of cyanide in the environment.

Ultrastable Self‐Cross‐linkable Electro‐Optic Materials Based on a Bisanthracene Scaffold

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
A novel bisanthracene‐based self‐cross‐linkable electro‐optic chromophore (TD2) is developed. TD2 exhibits a high r33 of 141 pm/V and a cross‐linked Tg up to 195 °C, retaining 99.75% of its initial EO response after 500 h at 85 °C, showing record‐high thermal stability for single‐molecule self‐cross‐linking EO materials.

Formation of Gallium Monofluoride in the Coordination Sphere of Nickel

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
The elusive gas‐phase species gallium monofluoride forms selectively in the coordination sphere of a nickel(II) centre as a product of C(sp3)–F bond activation, with a weakly coordinating anion as the fluorine source. The herein reported gallium monofluoride ligand acts as a very strong σ‐donor ligand at nickel and serves as a fluorine donor towards ...

Safety of Sodium‐Ion Batteries: Evaluation and Perspective from Component Materials to Cells, Modules, and Packs

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
This review provides a bottom‐up evaluation of sodium‐ion battery safety, linking material degradation mechanisms, cell engineering parameters, and module/pack assembly. It emphasizes that understanding intrinsic material stability and establishing coordinated engineering control across hierarchical levels are vital for preventing degradation coupling ...

Incorporation of Organic Counter‐Cations Into Poly(Heptazine Imide) Networks for Promoting Proton‐Coupled Electron Transfer During Photocatalytic H2O2 Evolution

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Incorporation of N‐based onium ions into the ionic framework of poly(heptazine imide) was obtained via protonation‐deprotonation of PHI frameworks arising from a parent Na‐containing analogue. Particularly, methylammonium moieties, through their small molecular size, hydrogen bonding capabilities and rotational mobility, appear to stabilize ...

The Effect of Storage Longtime on Cyanide Production in Postmortem Stored Tissues

open access: yesJournal of Fasa University of Medical Sciences, 2017
Background & Objective: Acute cyanide poisoning happens intentionally as suicide attempt or in accidental use. Interpretation of cyanide analysis results in postmortem samples is important in forensic medicine.

Decoupling Chemical and Mechanical Contributions to Capacity Fading in Ni‐Rich Cathodes for Sulfide‐Based All‐Solid‐State Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
Ni‐rich cathodes in sulfide‐based ASSBs undergo intertwined (electro)chemical and mechanical degradation. Here, a new diagnostic framework is presented to decouple each contribution by partitioning capacity fading into charge and discharge fading.
