Pre‐Curved Everting Robots With Embedded Steering Intelligence Fabricated by CO2 Laser Welding

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
Design and experimental demonstration of a laser welded growing robot for anatomically guided navigation. The robot follows an aortic arch phantom entering the branchiocephalic branch through steering by design. The figure shows the physical phantom setup, CAD defined weld geometry and full robot eversion.

A Nonbenzenoid Nanographene Horse Saddle With Four Pentagon–Octagon Pairs

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Horse‐saddle molecule: We report herein the design and synthesis of an unprecedented saddle‐shaped non‐benzenoid Nanographene featuring a fused four‐pair pentagon–octagon core. The horse‐saddle structure of HN1 is determined by single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction.

Cyanide-Bridged Heterobimetallic Complexes of the Group 6 Metal Carbonyls and Copper(I). X-ray Structures of (CO)5MCNCu(PPh3)3 (M = Cr, W) Derivatives

open access: yes, 2016
The cyanide-bridged compounds (CO)5MCNCu(PPh3)3 where M = W in 1, and M = Cr in 2 have been prepared by the reaction of NaM(CO)5CN with Cu(CH3CN)4BF4 and PPh3, and their solid-state structures have been determined crystallographically.

Phytoremediation of Mercury and Cyanide Contaminated Soils by Physic Nut (Jatropha curcas L.) and Citronella Grass (Cymbopogon nardus)

open access: yesJurnal Ilmu Lingkungan
Mercury and cyanide are compounds that have the potential to pollute the environment, both of which are found in the tailing waste of artisanal and small-scale gold mining (ASGM).

Pyridine C─N Transposition via Cycloaddition–Cycloreversion

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Transposition of pyridine nitrogen from the 4‐ to the 3‐position is described using two open and shut sequences: a nucleophile addition ring‐open ring‐closure, followed by a nitrile Diels–Alder cycloaddition cycloreversion. The nitrogen swap is particularly effective for tertiary alkyl substituents, transforming easily accessible para‐alkylated ...

Isolation of a Highly Reactive CBNC Heterocumulene via Azidoborylene Photolysis: Facile Access to a Crystalline Dioxaborirane

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Azidoborylene photolysis results in the isolation of a reactive C═B═N═C heterocumulene bearing an ambiphilic boron centre. Addition of 3O2 to this species results in the clean conversion to a unique example of a dioxaborirane. ABSTRACT Oxidation of the formal boron(0) complex MeCAAC2B in the presence of tetrabutylammonium azide leads to the formation ...

MpaR-driven expression of an orphan terminal oxidase subunit supports Pseudomonas aeruginosa biofilm respiration and development during cyanogenesis

open access: yesmBio
Pseudomonas aeruginosa is a common, biofilm-forming pathogen that exhibits complex pathways of redox metabolism. It produces four different types of terminal oxidases for aerobic respiration, and for one of these, the cbb3-type terminal oxidases, it has ...

Control of konzo in the Democratic Republic of Congo

open access: yes, 2011
Konzo is an upper motor neuron disease that causes irreversible paralysis of the legs mainly in children and young women^1,2^, due to consumption of large amounts of cyanogens from poorly processed cassava, the staple food of tropical Africa^3^.
