Second messenger systems underlying amine and peptide actions on cardiac muscle in the horseshoe crab, Limulus polyphemus [PDF]

open access: yes, 1989
The biochemical mechanisms by which octopamine, catecholamines and the peptide proctolin exert their actions on Limulus cardiac muscle were investigated.

Respiratory complex I‐mediated NAD+ regeneration regulates cancer cell proliferation through the transcriptional and translational control of p21Cip1 expression by SIRT3 and SIRT7

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
NAD+ regeneration by mitochondrial complex I NADH dehydrogenase is important for cancer cell proliferation. Specifically, NAD+ is necessary for the activities of NAD+‐dependent deacetylases SIRT3 and SIRT7, which suppress the expression of p21Cip1 cyclin‐dependent kinase inhibitor, an antiproliferative molecule, at the translational and transcriptional

Effects of Cyclic Amp and Dibutyryl Cyclic Amp on the Heart and Coronary Circulation

open access: yesJapanese Journal of Pharmacology, 1974
Using the canine heart-lung preparation supported by a donor dog and the isolated right and left atrial preparations of the guinea-pig and the rat, the cardiac actions of dibutyryl cyclic AMP were studied and compared with those of cyclic. AMP. Dibutyryl cyclic AMP produced positive isotropic and chronotropic effects associated with an increase in the ...

Targeting protein–protein interactions within the cyclic AMP signaling system as a therapeutic strategy for cardiovascular disease [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The cAMP signaling system can trigger precise physiological cellular responses that depend on the fidelity of many protein–protein interactions, which act to bring together signaling intermediates at defined locations within cells.

Elucidating prognostic significance of purine metabolism in colorectal cancer through integrating data from transcriptomic, immunohistochemical, and single‐cell RNA sequencing analysis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Low expression of five purine metabolism‐related genes (ADSL, APRT, ADCY3, NME3, NME6) was correlated with poor survival in colorectal cancer. Immunohistochemistry analysis showed that low NME3 (early stage) and low ADSL/NME6 (late stage) levels were associated with high risk.

Bayes-Optimal Convolutional AMP [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
To improve the convergence property of approximate message-passing (AMP), convolutional AMP (CAMP) has been proposed. CAMP replaces the Onsager correction in AMP with a convolution of messages in all preceding iterations while it uses the same low-complexity matched filter (MF) as AMP.

Escape from TGF‐β‐induced senescence promotes aggressive hallmarks in epithelial hepatocellular carcinoma cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Chronic TGF‐β exposure drives epithelial HCC cells from a senescent state to a TGF‐β resistant mesenchymal phenotype. This transition is characterized by the loss of Smad3‐mediated signaling, escape from senescence, enhanced invasiveness and metastatic potential, and upregulation of key resistance modulators such as MARK1 and GRM8, ultimately promoting

Effects of PDE4 inhibitors on lipopolysaccharide-induced priming of superoxide anion production from human mononuclear cells

open access: yesMediators of Inflammation, 2001
Aims: Phosphodiesterase 4 (PDE4) inhibitors have been described as potent anti-inflammatory compounds, involving an increase in intracellular levels of cyclic 3',5'-adenosine monophosphate (AMP).

Effect of cyclic AMP and acridine orange on the enzymatic reduction of usnic acid in the lichen Usnea aurantiaco-atra (Jacq.) Bory

open access: yesActa Societatis Botanicorum Poloniae, 2014
A fluorescence-detection HPLC procedure has been applied to identify and quantify acridine orange in lichen samples. The dye accumulates in thalli of the lichen Usnea aurantiaco-atra and, in part, it is recovered from protamine-precipitated nucleic acids
