An enzymatic mechanism for calcium current inactivation in dialysed Helix neurones
'Wash-out' and inactivation of the Ca current were examined in dialysed, voltage-clamped neurones of Helix aspersa under conditions that isolate the Ca current virtually free of other currents. EGTA or other internal Ca2+ chelators were routinely omitted

Synthesis of stereochemically diverse cyclic analogs of tubulysins
The synthesis of tubulysin analogs containing stereochemically diverse cyclic Tuv moieties is described. A tetrahydropyranyl moiety was incorporated into the Tuv unit by enantioselective hetero Diels-Alder reactions of Danishefsky's diene ...

Isolated rat hepatocytes rapidly utilized [14C] palmitate and, in particular, synthesized large amounts of neutral lipids from palmitate. Incorporation into cellular lipids occurred at a linear rate proportional to the medium concentration of fatty acids.

Creep‐Induced Microstructural Evolution in an A2‐B2 Superalloy
A 27.3Ta‐27.3Mo‐27.3Ti‐8Cr‐10Al (at.%) refractory high‐entropy alloy with precipitation‐strengthened A2‐B2 microstructure was studied by creep tests at 1030°C, which demonstrate a transition in deformation mechanisms in the range of 100–150 MPa applied stress. This is associated with changes in dislocation–precipitate interactions. Relevant deformation

Influence of Test Temperature and Test Frequency on Fatigue Life of Aluminum Alloy EN AW‐2618A
The influence of test temperature and test frequency on the fatigue life of EN AW‐2618A is investigated. High‐cycle fatigue tests are performed at different test temperatures and frequencies on the 1000 h/230°C overaged state. Both test parameters reduce fatigue life due to time‐dependent damage mechanisms.

Influence of Platelet Aggregation Modulators on Cyclic AMP Production in Human Thrombocytes
Background: Cyclic AMP is a powerful inhibitor of platelet aggregation. In the present study we examined the effect of platelet aggregation modulators on cyclic AMP content in human thrombocytes.

Do not let thermal drift and instrument artifacts deceive high‐temperature nanoindentation results. We compare classical Oliver–Pharr and automatic image recognition analyses across steels and a Ni alloy to quantify these effects. Accounting for artifacts reveals systematic softening with temperature, while Cr and Ni additions boost resistance ...

We identified and functionally characterized genes encoding three G alpha proteins and one G beta protein in the dimorphic fungal wheat pathogen Mycosphaerella graminicola, which we designated MgGpa1, MgGpa2, MgGpa3, and MgGpb1, respectively.

The retinitis pigmentosa mutation c.3444+1G>A in CNGB1 results in skipping of exon 32 [PDF]
Retinitis pigmentosa (RP) is a severe hereditary eye disorder characterized by progressive degeneration of photoreceptors and subsequent loss of vision. Two of the RP associated mutations were found in the CNGB1 gene that encodes the B subunit of the rod
