Evolution of particle crushing of carbonate sands under cyclic triaxial stress path

open access: yesYantu gongcheng xuebao, 2019
The carbonate sand is widely distributed in the South China Sea and used as the fill materials for land reclamation. Carbonate sand particles are fragile and can be easily crushed, making the carbonate sand exhibit distinctive mechanical behaviors ...

Brushes of semiflexible polymers in equilibrium and under flow in super-hydrophobic regime [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
We performed molecular dynamics simulations to study equilibrium and flow properties of a liquid in a nano-channel with confining surfaces coated with a layer of grafted semiflexible polymers.

Dynamic Characteristics of Saturated Soft Clay under Constant Confining Pressure Cyclic Loading

open access: yesIOP Conference Series: Earth and Environmental Science, 2020
Abstract The research on the dynamic characteristics of soft clay under cyclic loading has high value. This paper takes Ningbo saturated soft clay as the research object and uses the GCTS true triaxial test system to analyze the effects of consolidated confining pressure and cyclic deviator stress on the axial cumulative strain.

Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 increases metastatic potential and aggressiveness in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

Experimental Investigation of Failure Mode and Energy Evolution under Uniaxial Recompression of Granite Predamaged

open access: yesAdvances in Civil Engineering
The research work aimed at identifying the failure mode and energy evolution of damaged granite by uniaxial compression tests. The predamage specimens were prepared by cyclic loading with high confining pressure under constant upper and lower cyclic ...

Quantum dynamics of a hydrogen-like atom in a time-dependent box: non-adiabatic regime

open access: yes, 2018
We consider a hydrogen atom confined in time-dependent trap created by a spherical impenetrable box with time-dependent radius. For such model we study the behavior of atomic electron under the (non-adiabatic) dynamical confinement caused by the rapidly ...

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

A CRS oedometer cell for unsaturated and non-isothermal tests [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Research into the thermo-hydro-mechanical (THM) behavior of unsaturated soils and the effect of strain rate on their mechanical responses requires employment of advanced laboratory testing systems and procedures as well as protocols of correcting the ...

COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.
