The Degradation Behavior of Fabriano Soil During Cyclic Loadings
When the shear strain is higher than the so called volumetric threshold, degradation phenomena occur. In this paper the possibility of modelling the degradation behaviour of Fabriano soil with a simple law is examined. The study shows that a modified 2nd Masing Rule (Masing, 1926; Tatsuoka et al., 1993) is capable of well reproducing the experimental ...

Engineering IL‐4 resistant proinflammatory human myeloid cells for cancer immunotherapy
We developed a scalable workflow to generate proinflammatory human myeloid cells. CRISPR/Cas9‐edited CD34+ hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells were expanded and differentiated with M‐CSF. Deletion of STAT6 or STAT6/NFKB1 enhanced macrophage proinflammatory gene expression and cytokine secretion in the presence of IL‐4 while maintaining antibody ...

ANALYSIS OF DISC SPRING STIFFNESS DEGRADATION INDUCED BY FATIGUE DAMAGE
The disc spring will bear the cyclic displacement load during using, resulting in the fatigue damage and the stiffness degradation of the disc spring, which causes irreversible influence on the compensation function when accumulated sufficiently to cause

Optimizing photoactivation of PA‐mCherry for optical pooled CRISPR screens
Photoactivatable PA‐mCherry finds widespread use to optically tag individual cells. However, confocal 405 nm UV laser‐scanning (normal scan) is much less efficient than widefield UV illumination, limiting the use of PA‐mCherry on confocal instruments. We remedy this limitation by reporting that rapid and repeated confocal scanning with a low‐intensity,

Aquaporin‐3 and aquaporin‐5 impact the development of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma spheroids
Schematic representation of the role of aquaporin‐3 (AQP3) and aquaporin‐5 (AQP5) in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). Both proteins are upregulated in PDAC and are associated with tumor progression and metastatic potential. Silencing AQP3 or AQP5 in PDAC spheroids results in decreased diameter, area, and overall growth, underscoring their key ...

Small RNA pathways in mammalian oocytes
Three distinct small RNA pathways operate in mammalian oocytes: RNAi interference (RNAi), the microRNA (miRNA) pathway, and the PIWI‐associated RNA (piRNA) pathway. These pathways use small RNAs to guide sequence‐specific repression and contribute to oocyte biology by targeting genes and mobile elements or appear insignificant since different ...

Transcripts enriched in codons that trigger P‐site tRNA‐mediated mRNA decay possess stable mRNA
PTMD codons were first described by Mendel et al. as mediators of an mRNA decay pathway dependent on the human protein CNOT3, homologous to yeast Not5. Our findings confirm that PTMD codons destabilize transcripts; however, unlike in yeast, the human pathway specifically targets and slightly destabilizes primarily stable mRNAs.
