Influence of epinephrine on the degradation of cyclic AMP in chicken erythrocytes
Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1979Abstract The rate of cyclic AMP degradation in intact chicken erythrocytes was estimated by following cyclic AMP decay after blocking epinephrine-stimulated cyclic AMP synthesis with propranolol. The apparent half life time for cyclic AMP was found to be markedly slowed down by a prolonged exposure of the cells to epinephrine. The first order rate of

Synthesis and characterization of cyclic acetal based degradable hydrogels
European Journal of Pharmaceutics and Biopharmaceutics, 2008While many synthetic, hydrolytically degradable hydrogels have been developed for biomedical applications, there are only a few examples whose polymer backbone does not form acidic products upon degradation. In order to address this concern, we proposed to develop a hydrogel based on a cyclic acetal unit that produces diols and propanals upon ...

Degradation pathways of cyclic alkanes in Rhodococcus sp. NDKK48
Applied Microbiology and Biotechnology, 2004The degradation pathways for cyclic alkanes (c-alkanes) in Rhodococcus sp. NDKK48 were investigated. Strain NDKK48 used dodecylcyclohexane as a sole carbon and energy source, and five metabolites in the dodecylcyclohexane degradation pathway were detected by gas-chromatography/mass spectra. The metabolites were identified as cyclohexanecarboxylic acid,

Synthesis and Degradation of Cyclic ADP-Ribose by NAD Glycohydrolases
Science, 1993Cyclic adenosine diphosphoribose (cADPR), a recently discovered metabolite of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD), is a potent calcium-releasing agent postulated to be a new second messenger. An enzyme that catalyzes the synthesis of cADPR from NAD and the hydrolysis of cADPR to ADP-ribose (ADPR) was purified to homogeneity from canine spleen ...

Joint asperity degradation during cyclic shear
International Journal of Rock Mechanics and Mining Sciences & Geomechanics Abstracts, 1990Abstract Some 30 real rock granite and limestone joints, sawn with a new numerical control technique, were cyclically sheared to measure asperity degradation under normal stresses and displacements consistent with earthquake loading of underground caverns at depths of 50–300 m.

Formation and Degradation of Cyclic Nucleotides: An Overview
1982This Chapter provides some background and historical information about cyclic nucleotides as well as a brief overview of the section on their formation and degradation. Detailed and comprehensive treatment of the issues raised in this Chapter will occur in the later chapters.

Theophylline effect on the cyclic AMP degrading multienzyme sequence
Biochemical Pharmacology, 1982Membrane-bound 3'.5'-cyclic nucleotide phosphodiesterase (EC 3.1.4.17) is closely associated physically with nucleotidase and deaminase, thus forming an enzyme cluster of unique catalytic behaviour [H. Wombacher, Archs. Biochem. Biophys. 201, 8 (1980)].

Degradation of TiN coatings under cyclic loading
Acta Materialia, 2004Degradation of TiN coatings under cyclic contact loading was investigated by repeatedly loading with a 5 μm radius spherical-tipped conical diamond indenter to loads of up to 400 mN. Methods were established to eliminate the effects of creep and thermal drift to obtain data representing the degradation in the films.
