A Naphthalene Monoimide Meisenheimer Complex as Strong Organic Hydride Donor for Metal‐Free CO2 Reduction

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
A Meisenheimer complex derived from two‐fold reduction and protonation of naphthalene monoamide has been identified as a strong organic hydride donor which is able to reduce CO2. ABSTRACT Selective CO2 reduction to formate is challenging due to similar thermodynamics for the reaction to other products such as carbon monoxide and molecular hydrogen ...

Cyclic tri-adenylate controls a CARF-TM effector in type II Panoptes anti-phage systems.

open access: yesPLoS Biology
Cyclic nucleotide second messengers are used in all domains of life to amplify viral infection signals and activate cellular defences. In prokaryotes, CBASS (cyclic nucleotide-based antiphage signalling system) and type III CRISPR-Cas systems generate a ...

A proteomic investigation of forebrain regeneration in the leopard gecko (Eublepharis macularius)

open access: yesDevelopmental Dynamics, EarlyView.
Our investigation reveals ontogenetic, injury‐ and regeneration‐associated proteomic changes in the leopard gecko forebrain. Abstract Background The ability to replace lost or damaged neurons following an injury is termed reactive neurogenesis. Although reactive neurogenesis has been reported in several lizard species, the molecular mechanisms ...

Signal Transduction of Streptococci by Cyclic Dinucleotide Second Messengers

open access: yes, 2019
Since the discovery of cyclic dimeric guanosine 3\u27,5\u27-monophosphate (c-di-GMP) in 1987, the role of cyclic dinucleotides in signal pathways has been extensively studied.

Systemic aging fuels heart failure: Molecular mechanisms and therapeutic avenues

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, Volume 12, Issue 2, Page 1059-1080, April 2025.
Abstract Systemic aging influences various physiological processes and contributes to structural and functional decline in cardiac tissue. These alterations include an increased incidence of left ventricular hypertrophy, a decline in left ventricular diastolic function, left atrial dilation, atrial fibrillation, myocardial fibrosis and cardiac ...

Metabolic abnormalities and reprogramming in cats with naturally occurring hypertrophic cardiomyopathy

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, Volume 12, Issue 2, Page 1256-1270, April 2025.
Abstract Background and aims The heart is a metabolic organ rich in mitochondria. The failing heart reprograms to utilize different energy substrates, which increase its oxygen consumption. These adaptive changes contribute to increased oxidative stress.

FeIII‐Mediated Synthesis of Azaspirodienones via Ipso‐Radical Cyclization of Ugi–4CR Adducts

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Organic Chemistry, EarlyView.
An efficient two‐step protocol for the synthesis of azaspirodienones via Fe‐mediated ipso‐radical cyclization of Ugi adducts has been developed. This methodology provides rapid access to these privileged spirocyclic architectures under mild conditions, offering a practical and versatile approach to generating structurally complex molecules with ...

Electrochemical Valence‐Regulated Biomimetic Nanozymes for Breast Cancer Metabolism Inhibition and Potentiated Catalytic Immunotherapy

open access: yesExploration, EarlyView.
MnOx nanozymes face low tumoricidal activity and PD‐L1‐mediated immune attenuation. Electrochemically regulated M‐MnOx with high oxidase activity was TCM‐wrapped into TMO. TMO targets tumors, triggers ICD, activates cGAS‐STING, antagonizes PD‐L1, and suppresses tumor recurrence, providing new insights for Mn‐based nanomaterials.

Illuminating point‐of‐care diagnostics with aggregation‐induced emission biosensors

open access: yesFlexMat, EarlyView.
This review highlights the application of aggregation‐induced emission luminogens (AIEgens) in point‐of‐care (POC) diagnostics for disease biomarker detection. It systematically examines a range of biosensing platforms, including lateral flow immunoassays, microfluidic chips, and electrochemiluminescence sensors, alongside their utility in detecting ...

Crosstalk Between Parkinson's Disease and Colorectal Cancer: Genetic Mechanisms, Gut Microbiota, and Therapeutic Insights

open access: yesHealth Care Science, EarlyView.
This review elucidates the crosstalk between Parkinson's disease and colorectal cancer, driven by shared genetics (PRKN, PINK1, DJ‐1) involving oxidative stress, cell cycle regulation, and inflammation. It identifies the gut microbiota—via functional amyloids and short‐chain fatty acids (SCFAs)—as a mechanistic bridge, offering insights for dual ...
