Fibroblast Activation Protein Promotes Thoracic Aortic Dissection via PLAUR/ITGB1‐Mediated Pro‐inflammatory Macrophage Polarization

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals that FAP promotes thoracic aortic dissection (TAD) through a nonenzymatic mechanism involving fibroblast‐macrophage crosstalk via the FAP/PLAUR/ITGB1/FAK axis. Targeting this pathway might offer a promising therapeutic strategy for TAD.

Cyclic dipeptides from endophytic bacterium Bacillus velezensis as potential flavor precursors

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology
Cyclic dipeptides represent a class of intriguing molecules with a wide range of biological activities, but their potential application as flavor precursors has not been previously reported. In this study, a flavor-producing bacterium Bacillus velezensis

Alphaviral Capsid Proteins Inhibit Stress Granule Assembly via Competitive RNA Binding With G3BP1

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Stress granules exert antiviral functions. This study illustrates a conserved function of alphaviral capsid proteins in modulating stress granules. Oligomerization mediated by a helical motif coupled with a positively charged intrinsically disordered region (IDR) directly competes with G3BP1 for RNA binding, thereby disrupting G3BP1‐RNA liquid–liquid ...

Biomimetic epoxidation in aqueous media catalyzed by cyclic dipeptides [PDF]

open access: yesSynthetic Communications, 2016
We have developed a practical epoxidation of electron-deficient enones in aqueous media using cyclic dipeptides as bioinspired green catalyst. Optimizing the reaction conditions in a triphasic system led to efficient conditions providing epoxides with good enantioselectivities.

Systematically Engineering for Efficient Production of 3‐Methyl‐1‐Butanol in Escherichia coli

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An integrated metabolic engineering strategy was established for high‐level 3‐methyl‐1‐butanol biosynthesis in Escherichia coli. Molecular dynamics‐guided semi‐rational engineering of dihydroxyacid dehydratase uncovered and relieved key catalytic bottlenecks, while adaptive laboratory evolution enhanced strain robustness.

Efficient model chemistries for peptides. I. Split-valence Gaussian basis sets and the heterolevel approximation in RHF and MP2

open access: yes, 2007
We present an exhaustive study of more than 250 ab initio potential energy surfaces (PESs) of the model dipeptide HCO-L-Ala-NH2. The model chemistries (MCs) used are constructed as homo- and heterolevels involving possibly different RHF and MP2 ...

Oil‐Coated Nanoplastics Induce Rapid Membrane Disruption and Severe Intestinal Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Plastic food containers used in food delivery may pose underrecognized health risks by releasing micro‐ and nanoplastics (MNPs), especially when in contact with oil‐rich foods. Here, we show that cooking oil dramatically increased MNP release from polypropylene (PP) and polyethylene (PE)‐coated containers within 3 min of microwave heating ...

Structure-Acid Lability Relationship of N-alkylated α,α-dialkylglycine Obtained via a Ugi Multicomponent Reaction

open access: yesMolecules, 2021
Using the classical Ugi four-component reaction to fuse an amine, ketone, carboxylic acid, and isocyanide, here we prepared a short library of N-alkylated α,α-dialkylglycine derivatives.

GA1 as a source of potent antibiotics and other secondary metabolites for biocontrol of plant pathogens [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Background Phytopathogenic fungi affecting crop and post-harvested vegetables are a major threat to food production and food storage. To face these drawbacks, producers have become increasingly dependent on agrochemicals.
