Aqueous Amino Acids and Proteins Near the Surface of Gold in Hydrophilic and Hydrophobic Force Fields [PDF]
We calculate potentials of the mean force for twenty amino acids in the vicinity of the (111) surface of gold, for several dipeptides, and for some analogs of the side chains, using molecular dynamics simulations and the umbrella sampling method.

Synthesis of IB-01212 by multiple N-methylations of peptide bonds. [PDF]
There are many natural peptides with multiple N-methylamino acids that exhibit potent attractive biological activities. N-methylation of a peptide bond(s) is also one of the standard approaches in medicinal chemistry of bioactive peptides, to improve the

Energetics of Cyclic Dipeptide Crystal Packing and Solvation
Calculations of the thermodynamics of transfer of the cyclic alanine-alanine (cAA) and glycine-glycine (cGG) dipeptides between the gas, water, and crystal phases were carried out using a combination of molecular mechanics, normal mode analysis, and continuum electrostatics. The experimental gas-to-water solvation free energy and the enthalpy of gas-to-

The ageing holobiont: crosstalk between telomere dynamics, oxidative stress and the gut microbiome
ABSTRACT The gut tissue is at the frontline of early onset of ageing. It exhibits high cell turnover rates and rapid telomere shortening, which can have systemic effects on the developing or senescing organism. We conducted a literature review of studies on the crosstalk between telomere length dynamics, telomerase activity, oxidative stress, and gut ...

Homochirality in an early peptide world
A recently proposed model of non-autocatalytic reactions in dipeptide reactions leading to spontaneous symmetry breaking and homochirality is examined. The model is governed by activation, polymerization, epimerization and depolymerization of amino acids.

Conformation for a beta-cyclodextrin monosubstituted with a cyclic dipeptide. [PDF]
The structural characterization of a beta-cyclodextrin monosubstituted with the peptide cyclo(L-His-L-Leu) is reported. This work provides an x-ray example of a covalently bound group that folds in such a way that the terminal apolar side chain is retained in the hydrophobic interior of the cone-shaped cyclodextrin cavity.

Cathepsin B‐sensitive peptide–adjuvant conjugates are designed, synthesized, and evaluated to deliver an antigenic peptid and an adjuvant targeting Toll‐like receptors 7 and 8 (TLR7/8) to antigen presenting cells. The adjuvant is released by cathepsin B resulting in antigen presentation and TLR mediated T cell activation.
