Does cyclic guanosine monophosphate induce autophagy in thyroid malignant carcinoma through down-regulation of cyclic guanosine monophosphate phosphodiesterase?

Journal of biological regulators and homeostatic agents, 2016
The aim of this study was to evaluate whether or not the expression of cGMP- phosphodiesterases (cGMP-PDE) varies in different thyroid pathologies and to elucidate the relationship between the expression of cGMP-PDE, cGMP, and autophagy. Fifty-four thyroid biopsy samples, excised to perform the biopsy, were split into two parts and randomly assigned ...

Cyclic guanosine monophosphate phosphodiesterase activity in human gingival carcinoma

Journal of Oral Pathology & Medicine, 2003
AbstractBackground: Cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP) is an essential second messenger metabolized by phosphodiesterases (PDEs).Objectives: We looked for a possible correlation of PDE activities in human oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) with and without lymph node metastases.Materials and methods: The analysis of phosphodiesterase activity and ...

Effect of Angiotensin II on Cyclic Guanosine Monophosphate and Cyclic Adenosine Monophosphate in Human Plasma

The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism, 1976
Infusion of alpha-adrenergic catecholamines increases plasma cyclic guanosine monophosphate (pcGMP), raising the possibility that the pressor effect of these agents may be mediated by cyclic GMP. We infused pressor doses of angiotensin II in 10 studies in 8 normal subject and measured pcGMP and plasma cyclic adenosine monophosphate (pcAMP) by ...

Cyclic adenosine monophosphate and cyclic guanosine monophosphate variations during isometric tetanus in frog sartorius muscle

Canadian Journal of Physiology and Pharmacology, 1982
Tetanic stimulation at different temperatures (5 and 20 °C) of the frog sartorius muscle results in an increase of cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP) directly correlated to the tension developed. Cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) levels change differently for different temperature values.

Guanosine 3′, 5′-cyclic monophosphate phosphodiesterase activity of Bacilluslicheniformis

Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1974
Summary Guanosine 3′, 5′-cyclic monophosphate phosphodiesterase activity was detected in extracts of Bacillus licheniformis strain A-5. The enzyme is associated with the 105,000 xg supernatant fraction of the extract, requires either Mn ++ or Ca ++ for full activity and has a pH optimum of 7.5–8.0.

Cyclic 3′, 5′-adenosine monophosphate and cyclic 3′, 5′-guanosine monophosphate metabolism in malnutrition

Nutrition Research, 1986
Abstract When the concentration and turnover of the cyclic nucleotides cyclic 3′, 5′-adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) and cyclic 3′,5′-guanosine monophosphate (cGMP) were measured in the thymus, spleen and cervical lymphnodes of xats subjected to various models of malnutrition, and these same parameters of cAMP alone assessed in their liver, kidney and

Cyclic Adenosine Monophosphate (CAMP) and Cyclic Guanosine Monophosphate (CGMP)

Abstract Human physiology is highly dependent on a well-coordinated system of communication between cells. A multitude of external signals, including hormones, neurotransmitters, and other molecules, interact with cells via specific cell-surface receptors.

Enzyme immunoassays of adenosine cyclic 3',5'-monophosphate and guanosine cyclic 3',5'-monophosphate using acetylcholinesterase

Analytical Chemistry, 1989
The pure tetrameric form of acetylcholinesterase (EC 3.1.1.7) from the electric eel Electrophorus electricus has been covalently coupled to 2'-O-succinyl-cAMP tyrosine methyl ester and 2'-O-succinyl-cGMP. Both enzymatic conjugates have been used as tracers in a classical heterogeneous competitive enzyme immunoassay allowing the determination of cAMP ...

Action of Cyclic Guanosine Monophosphate on Thyroid Weight and Protein

Endocrinology, 1971
In previous studies, cyclic adenosine monophosphate was found to stimulate mouse thyroid protein synthesis and growth. These investigations were extended in the present study, in which the action of 3',5'-cylic guanosine monophosphate (c-GMP) was investigated. One or 2 mg/day of c-GMP given for 5 days to thyroxine-suppressed mice stimulated L-H-leucine

Ethanol-Induced Depletion of Cerebellar Guanosine 3′,5′-Cyclic Monophosphate

Science, 1976
Single doses of ethanol induce a severe depletion (95 percent) of cerebellar guanosine 3′,5′-cyclic monophosphate (cyclic GMP) within 1 hour after administration. The degree of this depletion is dose-dependent and is a function of the amount of ethanol in the blood.
