CYCLIC PRESSUREMETER LOADING AND LIQUEFACTION PROPERTIES OF SANDS

open access: yesSOILS AND FOUNDATIONS, 2003
Based on a series of cyclic cavity expansion tests carried out on a thick hollow cylinder apparatus (HCC) and on mini-pressuremeter tests performed in a calibration chamber, a method is proposed to establish a reliable correlation between the result of a "reference" cyclic expansion test carried out in a sand, in terms of cavity volume accumulation ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Particle flow simulation of the crack propagation characteristics of granite under cyclic load

open access: yes工程科学学报, 2021
The microcracks in natural rock masses considerably impact the stability of the underground engineering structures. The mechanical properties of the cracked rock masses contribute considerably to the strength of the rock masses and their compression ...

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Experimental investigation of pretensioned bolts under cyclic loading: Damage assessment using acoustic emission

open access: yesInternational Journal of Distributed Sensor Networks, 2019
Understanding the acoustic emission effects on bolts under cyclic loading is of great significance for the support of roadways. The presented research focuses on the acoustic emission characteristics of bolts under cyclic loading.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Dissipation of Energy and Generation of Pore Pressure in Load-Controlled and Displacement-Controlled Cyclic Tests

open access: yesGeotechnics
The amount of energy dissipated in the soil during cyclic loading controls the amount of pore pressure generated under that loading. Because of this, the normalized dissipated energy per unit volume is the basis for both pore pressure generation models ...

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Use of Blind Rivets in Sandwich Panels—Experimental Investigation of Static and Quasi-Cyclic Loading

open access: yesBuildings, 2020
In this paper, we present an original experimental investigation on a pull-out test of a blind rivet from the external facing of sandwich panels with various core layer materials (polyisocyanurate foam, mineral wool, and expanded polystyrene).

REINFORCED CONCRETE UNDER CYCLIC LOADING

open access: yes, 2000
In order to contribute to the on going research effort in this field, an experimental working plan with cylinder steel fibre reinforced concrete specimens under compression cyclic loading was carried out. Sets of five specimens were reinforced with conventional transverse reinforcement of 0, 0.57, 1.71 and 4.01 volume percentage of specimen concrete ...
