Influence of stress gradients on bolted joint fatigue behaviour under different preloads and cyclic loads ratio

open access: yesStructural integrity and life, 2014
Threaded joints have sharp notches which generate a localized multiaxial stress field with high stress gradients. Fatigue strength of mechanical structures is a nonlocal phenomenon, and spatial distribution of stresses influence fatigue behaviour, not only the local value of stress.

An Experimental Approach to Lightweight Aggregate Concrete Material Modeling Parameters Under Cyclic and Biaxial Loadings

open access: yesInternational Journal of Concrete Structures and Materials
This study examines the mechanical behavior of structural lightweight aggregate concrete (LWAC) through uniaxial, cyclic, and biaxial compressive testing on cubic specimens at the macro level.

Financial Distress and Its Determinants in Rheumatoid Arthritis

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective To quantify the degree of financial distress and identify its determinants in adults with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) given the frequent prolonged use of expensive disease‐modifying therapies. Methods We identified adults enrolled in the FORWARD databank with either RA or noninflammatory musculoskeletal disease (NIMSKD) completing the ...

Validation of a Genetic Risk Score Combined With Clinical Variables for Predicting Pulmonary Fibrosis in Early Rheumatoid Arthritis

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Pulmonary fibrosis (PF) is a severe extra‐articular manifestation of rheumatoid arthritis (RA). This study aimed to externally validate a genetic risk score (GRS) and a combined risk score (CRS) for predicting the risk of RA‐associated PF in an independent cohort of patients with early RA.

Mechanical responses of sandstone exposed to triaxial differential cyclic loading with distinct unloading rates of confining stress: A lab scale investigation

open access: yesInternational Journal of Coal Science & Technology
This article investigates the mechanical responses and acoustic emission (AE) characteristics of sandstone under the triaxial differential cyclic loading (DCL) at different unloading rates of confining stress.

Clinical Practice Guideline for Evaluation and Management of Peripheral Nervous System Manifestations in Sjögren's Disease

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, Accepted Article.
Objectives Sjögren's disease is an autoimmune disorder that can impact multiple organ systems, including the peripheral nervous system (PNS). PNS manifestations, which can exist concurrently, include mononeuropathies, polyneuropathies, and autonomic nervous system neuropathies. To help patients and providers in the decision‐making process, we developed

Combining Three Peripheral Blood Biomarkers to Stratify Rheumatoid Arthritis‐Associated Interstitial Lung Disease Risk

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, Accepted Article.
Objective The purpose was to evaluate a biomarker score consisting of MUC5B rs35705950 promoter variant, plasma matrix metalloproteinase (MMP)‐7, and serum anti‐malondialdehyde‐acetaldehyde (anti‐MAA) antibody for RA‐associated interstitial lung disease risk stratification. Methods Using a multicenter cohort of US veterans with RA, we performed a cross‐

New Onset of Fibromyalgia After Exposure to a Combat Environment: A Longitudinal Cohort Study

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Traumatic life events are hypothesized to be triggers for the onset of fibromyalgia. Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a common comorbidity of fibromyalgia. However, limited prospective data are available on the development of fibromyalgia after exposure to high‐magnitude stress.
